Lacosamide is an anticonvulsant and analgesic compound used for the treatment of partial-onset seizures and neuropathic pain. It can also used for the treatment of status epilepticus. Its analgesic effect is mediated by its inhibitory effect on sodium channels, which leads to neural membrane depolarization. Its interaction with the collapsin-response mediator protein 2 (CRMP-2 alias DRP-2) may also facilitate the above process, although the detailed mechanism remains to be elucidated.

Side effects of lacosamide may include- poor-coordination, unsteadiness, "mood changes", feeling sad or empty:

1 hour after I increased my dose I straight up walked into and over my coffee table, and sobbed uncontrollably on the floor like a hurt child.

Vimpat/Lacosamide

Are there any people suffering from epilepsy that take this drug?

I've just been put on it today, and i'm a bit scared about it, just for the face that it's only been around for two years and so they don't know all the side effects and to be a candidate for it you had to be over 16 and had to have already been on Epilum and Keppra (and I think Tegratol as well I don't remember) all of which I have been.

Although When I was on a combonation of Epilum/Keppra I reacted badly and I know lots of people have terrible side effects with Keppra. Depression, Insomnia, Anxiety,  Hallucinations etc, I had to be taken off Keppra when my neurologist realised I was suicidal because of the combination and the fact it wasn't at all working and hadn't been for about a year and a half.

The combination I'm on at the moment is great for myself emotionally, and has brought the level of seizures down but I'm just scared to try this stuff (Vimpat) when there's really nothing to go on about the side effects, since i've reacted badly to almost every medication I've ever tried except the combination I'm on right now.

So, If anyone has ever tried this drug, or is on it currently, please let me know how it's going/went for you. I would appreciate this so much.
