Hello all! I am in search of a specific Daminette fic...
it's a wild one, and it's been awhile since I read it, so details are somewhat hazy...
Definitely in the fic:
1) Daminette pairing, but they never actually got together -- the fic was not completed :(
2) Marinette (and most of team miraculous) is in a top security prison
3) Marinette is very chaotic and kind of ?evil?
4) Marinette steals a car from a group of bats and leaves them stranded at a gas station (idk why this is the one specific scene I seem to remember)
Possibly in the fic:
1) I think the team like merged the miraculous with their souls or something ? they don't have physical miraculi and have some traits of the miraculous at all times
2) Mari mostly manages to convince Damian of her innocence / uses him to escape the prison
3) John Constantine
4) Miraculous team members: Marinette, Luka, Kagami, Nino, Alya, Chloe, Max (I think Adrien is implied dead ?? I don't remember him rly being in the fic) possibly more I dont remember

Chapter 9 : A Matter of Trust and Louboutins.
Word count: 1250
All eyes were on her, and her ridiculously loud phone. Marinette was panicking, hard.
Still, she managed to immediately turn off the alarm. She smiled slightly at them, saying it was just an alarm. She tried, God's she tried to ignore that gnawing ache in her heart, the way her throat was tightening.
They didn't seem to buy it — at least not completely, but she excused herself from the table, and made her way to the washroom. Which was apparently just down the hall, from what Selena had called out to her. Everything was going fine, why did it have to happen now ?
She locked herself in the bathroom, her brain filled with a hundred different screams. The bathroom was comparatively big, but still small enough to make Marinette feel as if the walls were collapsing inwards.
She caught her reflection in the huge mirror, and looked away immediately, as she backed up to the wall; not just out of fear, but out of shame. She slowly sunk to the ground, clutching her head, her back hitting the wall.
Tikki zoomed out of her purse. “Marinette, what..?” Tikki asked, confused.“I…I don't know what to do..” Marinette said, looking at Tikki with teary eyes. “There is an akuma attack, a level ten…”
“Well, you can use the rabbit miraculous, go back in time and decide not to come here today. Or you could use the horse miraculous, go to Paris, defeat the akuma, use the miraculous rabbit then, and come back just seconds after you leave !” Tikki said, reassuringly.
“Or… I could use all three Miraculouses, and prevent the akumatization altogether ! Sure I might have to use multiple Miraculouses, but it would still work..” Marinette muttered, mostly to herself.
“Marinette, that's not a good idea. Using too many miraculouses at once is dangerous. It takes a toll on your health and you know that…” Tikki said softly, concern filling her sweet voice.
But Marinette wasn't listening, she was too into her head for that. She was spiraling down and fast.
What if I'm not good enough? What if Hawkmoth wins ? What if I lose my miraculous ? What if —
“Marinette !” Her Aunt's voice. “Is everything okay ?”
No. Nothing was okay. She didn't reply. She couldn't. Couldn't breathe, couldn't focus, couldn't do anything. Wasn't she just pathetic? So useless—
Before Marinette knew it, strong hands wrapped around her, rubbing her back and whispering sweet nothings into her hair. “Breathe, kitty, Breathe.”
She tried. And for once, she didn't fail. She forced air in and out in a steady rhythm — matching her Aunt's. It took her about a few minutes to relax.
(Absent-mindedly, she notes that the door wasn't broken, so her aunt had probably picked the lock. A useful skill. Marinette should ask Selena to teach her that.)
When she pulls away from her aunt, she expects disgust, annoyance, disappointment. Hate even.
But what she saw knocked the air out of her. In her Aunt's eyes, there was only pure concern. Behind her Aunt, Tikki was floating, a similar expression on her face. A small thought plants itself into Marinette, a positive one, almost like a flower growing amidst weeds.
“Selena, how much do you trust me ?” Marinette asked cautiously.
The look on her aunt's face was enough for her.
“Blue carrots.” She says aloud, confidently.
Just then, a blue and white portal opens up where the mirror was, a sign that Marinette made the right decision.
Bunnyx steps out, a smile on her face. Just like that, the portal disappeared.
“I almost intervened, but I'm glad you came to a conclusion.”
Her Aunt reacted immediately. Standing up, she pushed Marinette behind her, and got into a defensive stance facing Bunnyx. She also managed to successfully block the door with her body.
“Get away, who are you ? How did you get in here ?” Her Aunt snapped. Alex looked slightly worried, and looked at Marinette, her eyes asking Marinette for help.
“Selena don't worry.. that's Bunnyx, a superhero from Paris.” Marinette placed a hand on Selena's shoulder.
“…what.” Her Aunt asked, alternatively looking at Bunnyx and Marinette. Selena seemed to be completely confused
“I… Paris had been under the attack of a superpowered villain for the last two years, and I was chosen to be the hero, ladybug, by using these magical earrings, called a Miraculous. And uh… many things happened. And.. long story short—”
“I think,” Selena interrupted, “I would like the long story.” She looked at Marinette expectantly, still shielding her from Bunnyx.
“And I will tell you. But now, we have more important matters at hand. Paris is being attacked by a very powerful villain, and I need your help.” Marinette said, slightly impatient.
Her Aunt looked at her, slightly shocked. She seemed to be on the edge, which was to be expected.
“My help ? How ? I mean I'm just a civilian…” Selena asked, her voice faltering slightly.
“I know, but all you will have to do is teleport me to Paris and back.” Marinette reassured her.
“I… Okay. I'm assuming you'll tell me how to do that ?” Despite everything her aunt was taking the news quite well. Marinette tapped her bracelet, and the portal opened. Her Aunt looked even more put off at the display of magic. Marinette suppressed a laugh at Selena’s skepticism.
“Selena Kyle, this is the Miraculous of the horse which grants the power of Migration. You'll use it for the greater good.” She offered the bracelet to Selena.“Once the mission is over, you'll return the Miraculous to me.... Can I trust you?”
“Yes, I accept. Now what do I do ?” Her aunt replied, inspecting the miraculous which seems to be peculiar sunglasses.
“Wear it and say – Kaalki, full gallop.” Her Aunt hesitantly wore the glasses, and Kaalki zoomed out.
“So we each get a mini flying elf ?” Selena asked, looking at Kaalki then at Tikki,” I'm assuming that's your magic elf ?”
That seemed to have offended Kaalki, “I'll have you know, I'm more than a mere flying elf—”
“Okay, okay that's enough Kaalki. We have bigger problems we need to face.” Marinette sud, slightly impatient, more than before.
“Fine. Well human, hurry up.” Kaalki snapped at her already bewildered Aunt.
“Uhhhh ok..?” Her Aunt replied, shaking her head. “Kaalki, full gallop.”
Bright light enveloped her aunt, and before her stood a new hero. Her suit was pitch black, except for her torso, which was beige. Her Aunt's hair, which was a bob before, was now in a high pony that came till her mid waist.
The sunglasses had become goggles, and her boots were.. not what Marinette expected. They seemed to be a modified version of Louboutins, but with a white sole, and a slightly thicker heel.
“Now that's what I call a fashionable, practical suit. I do love this magical makeover.” Her Aunt said, checking herself out in the mirror. Then, she turned to Marinette.”Let's get this party started. What do I do now ?"
Marinette grinned, and transformed herself. That's when she noticed that her suit had changed too. It wasn't major, but it certainly had more black now than before. She liked it.
After she told her aunt how to activate her powers, and explained her plan, she realised that things didn't seem as impossible or difficult as it seemed before. Not now that she doesn't have to do everything on her own anymore.
Maybe she did the right thing coming to Gotham.

Also, I'm in need of a beta reader, anyone interested?
It's a prank war, my dudes! (And I’ll warn you now, it’s gonna be super cheesy, but I had fun with it)
Marinette and Dick have been dating for a few years (like four, probs?) at this point. They're at a great place in their relationship, and they don't fight often.
There is one thing, however, that can't be helped but fought about:
The Prank War.
Started about three months into their relationship when Dick switched the shampoo and conditioner in the manor with purple hair dye to trick his brothers but accidentally got Marinette, the war has become a staple of their relationship. Usually, one of them will prank the other in retaliation about a month after the last prank, to give enough time for the other to forget and be lulled into a false sense of security.
However, this prank is going to blow the rest out of the water.
Why?
Well, because it isn't really a prank at all.
Marinette's latest prank involved a total redo of the most recent Nightwing suit (or what Dick thought was his suit-- it was actually a replica. Marinette was dedicated to the prank, but she wasn't cruel. The real one is hidden away. She won't tell him where it is, not yet), sewing on ladybug-esuqe accents and spray-painting the logo a bright red and the mask a bright pink. Dick totally freaked out, but after he took a few deep breaths he thought it was actually pretty funny.
Dick has been hyping up this prank for weeks. He's been super cryptic and has been throwing out so many red herrings that Marinette is totally freaking out. She's super on edge when Dick isn't in the room, and everyone else notices it.
Dick refuses to tell anyone what he has planned. Literally nobody knows what's happening.
Scratch that.
One person knows-- Alfred. (He helped pick something special out with Dick that he thought Marinette would just adore Mwahhahahaha). Alfred has not said a word, and pretends to be as clueless as the others to keep up the ruse.
***
It's been almost two months since the suit prank. Literally nobody (save Dick) knows when and where and what exactly will happen (Alfred only knows part of the equation).
One fateful day, Dick calls Marinette and tells her to meet him on the roof of the Wayne Gardens building (not in costume, but he doesn't care if she wears it to get there). He also says to wear something generally nice, noting that it shouldn't be anything she wants to get dirty.
Marinette is very confused and worried. This has to be it, right? The big prank?
So she goes, and when she gets there, she sees the roof access door open slightly, with what is very obviously a bucket propped on top of it. Dick is nowhere to be seen.
Marinette walks around the roof, checking for traps and anything that could attack her. Nothing is there.
She does, however, find a note on the floor by the door.
'Come on down!' it reads. Marinette opens the door slowly, taking care not to be in the bucket's range. What she was expecting was water, or syrup, or something else like that. What she found, however, was a key, another note, and confetti.
'Solve the puzzle!' the note read.
So she went downstairs and into the gardens, where she found a little wooden box sitting on a bench. Alone. With nobody around.
Suspicious much?
What Marinette expected: one of those boxes with a fake mouse in it, or a trap that would spray her with silly string or whipped cream when she opened it.
What she found: another note, and a full untouched water balloon.
'Throw me,' it said, with an arrow pointing to the left below the words. Marinette did as instructed, and there it as far as she could in that direction. It landed behind a bush and she heard the splatter, as well as a ringing sound coming from the area.
She walked over and found another note taped to a leaf, this one a little wet (oops).
'Good aim!' it read. 'But hey, where's that noise coming from?'
The ringing changed from an annoying sound to classical music, a song Marinette recognized. It was a song she and Dick had danced to at the gala where they met all those years ago.
She scoured the area for the sound, but it wasn't coming from the room. It was actually coming from a speaker near the glass elevator at the edge of the building, one with yet another note attached.
As fun as this hunt was, Marinette was getting more and more anxious. What was Dick's plan? His endgame? She couldn't figure it out. There was also a chance he was recording her right now, so she stuck a playful middle finger up in the air and smirked. She knew he'd get the message.
'Going down, down, down...' the note read. The elevator itself also had a clue, with an arrow being drawn to point at the third floor.
Marinette pushed the button and the elevator went down, but as it approached it suddenly stopped.
This was it. All of the clues and hype leading up to this. Marinette wasn't too impressed, to be honest.
She opened the little door that held the emergency phone and called the given number.
'Hiya, sweetie!' Dick's voice said through the line.
'Hiya, bastard,' Marinette replied. 'Seriously? All this buildup for an elevator plank? This is honestly kinda sad.'
'Wow, you think so little of me? Nah, this is just a distraction of sorts. A delay. I'm not ready yet.'
'Ready for what?'
'What comes next.'
'That wasn't vague at all!'
'You know I love you, right?' he asked, and Marinette's stomach dropped.
'Richard Grayson, I swear to God. This isn't funny anymore. Are you okay? What's going on?'
'Nothing too exciting. Not yet, anyway.'
'Yet?'
The elevator kicked back into gear, and when the doors opened, Marinette saw Dick, wearing a pink suit, on one knee, holding a ring that Alfred helped him pick out (it had a ruby in it with a rose gold band with a small ladybug and robin etched into the inside. Not too flashy or big, but still intricate, which they knew Marinette would love).
'Marinette Dupain-Cheng, from the moment I met you, I knew you were so special. But it wasn't until you destroyed my Nightwing suit that I realized I was ready to spend the rest of my life with you. I don't even know why that moment made me feel like that-- it's such a weird moment to choose, I know, but-'
Someone cleared their throat in the background, where Marinette couldn't see. Of course the family was watching and helping (they finally knew what was going on now. Dick had sent them the same cryptic messages too, just with less clues to follow.)
'Sorry, I'm rambling. But you know what I mean. And that's why, if you'll take me, I would love to become your husband, your partner in crime- and pranks-, your one and only. Marinette, will you marry me?'
'Yes! Of course, you idiot!' she told him, of course, and when she went to hug him she almost knocked him over (he didn't really have good balance on one leg).
The family cheered in the background.
Marinette just had one little request of her now fiance.
'Can we be done with the crazy pranks for a little while? As much as I loved them, this one drove me crazy.'
'Sure, babe. Mischief managed, for now.' The glint in his eye told her this was only temporary, and she wouldn't have it any other way. She was already planning her next prank-- how to tell him she was pregnant (which she wasn't yet! But it doesn't hurt to plan ahead, right?)
"C'mon, girl. Lila said this place was looking for new hires." Alya had Marinette's hand in a vice-like grip, and the latter couldn't help but compare it to the way Robin had held her hand earlier.
They had been running around for about an hour now, going from business to business, seeing if they were looking for interns, or new hires.
Marinette had been content spending time with her friend, until that girl had been mentioned.
"Why would you believe anything she says? You know she's a compulsive liar."
"Marinette, it's a condition, you have to be understanding. Besides, she said the condition doesn't allow her to lie to her closest friends, and I'm a close friend of hers," Alya announced proudly, as she slingshotted Marinette around her and into the open building.
Marinette stumbled through the door, ignoring what her friend said.
Lila had seemingly given up on trying to ruin Marinette's life about half a year ago, when Adrien and Kagami began dating. Marinette was grateful for it; she wouldn't have to be dealing with Lila directly. Still, her friends refused to see the liar as anything other than an angel dealing with some serious struggles.
"How may I help you?" the receptionist said, snapping Marinette out of her thoughts.
"Oh right! Um, I heard that you guys needed help, and my friend and I were wondering where we could apply."
The readhead behind the desk furrowed her brows. "No, I'm sorry, we aren't currently looking for help."
Marinette turned around to look at her friend.
"Told you so," she said smugly.
Alya simply rolled her eyes with a smile. "Who wants to work here anyway?"
Both girls wanted to work there. La Mise á Jour was one if Paris' most prominent magazines. Not only did they display the latest fashion -a great opportunity for Marinette to show off what she was capable of- La Mise á Jour also hosted some of the most exclusive interviews in the history of interviews.
But of course they weren't hiring. The girls walked out of the building, feeling a little dejected, but then they were stopped by a voice.
"Marinette?"
The girls looked up to see Damian standing in a crisp suit. His hair was slicked back, and he was standing next to another young man who looked like he was ready to kill.
"Damian? Oh, hey!"
"Hi!" His voice went up and Marinette was startled. But, was she startled at the fact that Damian was here, that he remembered her name, that he had greeted her or that he seemed... Excited?
"What brings you around these parks? And who's your friend?" Alya asked.
Said friend sent a glare their way and rolled his eyes. "We don't have time for this, Damian. Bruce wants us... With you know who. And you know how the old man gets when he doesn't get what he wants when he wants it." He spoke English, as opposed to everyone else's French.
Damian brushed off the older boy and sent a smile to his classmates. "This is my... brother, Jason, and we're here for my father's business. Didn't know you guys worked for the Mise."
"Oh, yeah. We totally work here," Alya answered. Apparently Lila was rubbing off on her.
Marinette shook her head. "We totally don't work here, they aren't currently hiring. But we'll have better luck next time, right Alya?"
Alya wouldn't take her eyes off Jason, staring at him in a way that made Marinette want to mention Nino.
"Alya?"
"What? Hm? Yeah, we'll get lucky."
Marinette rolled her eyes and waved at the boys. "I think it's time we get going, but it was nice meeting you, Jason. See you at school, Damian." The she walked away, tugging on her friend's arm until she followed Marinette down the street.
"What is wrong with you, girl? I could've gotten his number."
Marinette turned and face her friend. "No, what's wrong with you? You've dragged me around all day, turning down this application, and that job offer, all because Lila said they weren't good enough. Then you lie to our classmate about working for the Mise and just now you were going to what? Cheat on Nino?"
Alya's eyes widened, but Marinette couldn't tell if it was with shock, anger, or sadness. All she knew was that she wish she could take it all back.
"Mari, do you know why I invited you out today?" Her voice was a lot softer than Marinette had anticipated. "It's not cause I wanted to find a job; I don't want a job. It's just that... I wanted to distract myself. I've been so busy lately, so stressed, I needed some time off, Marinette. Just me and my bestie. I mean, can you even rememeber the last time we grabbed lunch together, or we watched a movie? I haven't had the time, and obviously neither have you, 'cause you've been so busy you didn't even notice Nino and I broke up last month."
Marinette felt her chest cave in with guilt at the tears silently streaming down her friend's face.
"Alya I-"
"It's alright, Marinette." The girl wiped her tears. "I just wanna go home."
"Alya-"
The girl didn't turn back around as she walked away.
_
"I'm the most horrible friend," Marinette kept on mumbling.
The Kwami didn't dare leave the bag, but she was speaking loud enough for Marinette to hear. "Marinette, you can't blame yourself. Alya said it herself, you've both been busy."
Marinette stopped walking and leaned against a tree. She had ended up at the park without even realizing it. This has been where Alya and Nino had first gotten together, and Marinette wondered what had happened that made the couple split up.
"Hey. Everything ok?"
Marinette knew the voice, and she forced a smile before looking up. "Hey, Robin."
The boy was standing stiff, and Marinette somehow knew that it was because he was uncomfortable being out in the day. However, the sun was setting and he'd be in his element soon.
"Everything isn't ok, is it?"
Marinette shook her head. "I've been a bad friend."
"Oh, Marinette, you don't need friends. The people of Paris will either worship you or fear you, and that's all you need to be a hero. Besides, as Ladybug, you don't have an equal, so it's not possible to have friends. Like, if an angel walked among us, do you think they would waste time paying us any attention?"
Marinette sighed. "You don't understand, Robin. Ladybug is Marinette, and I'm Marinette, but Marinette is not Ladybug, and Marinette needs friends."
Robin took it in. He didn't understand, but for Marinette, he was willing to try.
"I could be your friend," he said quietly. He knew he shouldn't have done it, but he did it anyway. In fact, he knew he shouldn't even be around her. Marinette had made him blush earlier that day, and that made her a distraction. It meant Robin had to stay away, or at the very least keep their interactions as professional as possible.
Yet, there he was. He ditched Jason at the meeting to go after Marinette, and now he was offering her friendship.
Paris had gotten in his head.
"Would you?" Marinette smiled slightly.
No, I can't and shouldn't be your friend. Not as Damian, not as Robin. Not now, not ever. "If it's what you want then, yes. I think it would be fun to be your friend."
Marinette chuckled and then so did Robin.
"Well, friend, this doesn't mean I'm giving up on Alya. But... It's a start to something good, I think."
Robin agreed.
"Oh, and also, um..." Marinette trailed, and smiled sheepishly.
Robin followed her gaze, his eyes landing on her broken heel. He laughed. "I don't think you can walk in that."
Marinette giggled. "Yeah, me neither."
_
"Thanks for the lift, Robin."
"No need to thank me, Angel. Afterall, what are friends for?"

Chapter 8: DINNER WITH THE WAYNE FAMILY
Word count: 1396
Marinette's second day in school was uneventful, when compared to her first day. Not that she was complaining, she liked the peace and quiet.
Surprisingly, Damian was missing from school that day, and Marinette felt an odd sense of…. Well it was something, but she couldn't identify just what it was. Regardless, her day went well.
For some weird reason, Marinette felt drawn to Cass. Maybe Cass had a high potential to be a miraculous holder - Marinette should look into that.
Unlike the previous day, Marinette got home well before it got dark, some time around half past 5. As soon as she got home, she started rummaging through her clothes in hopes of finding a suitable one for a dinner with billionaires !
Billionaires who were soon to be her Aunt’s family, and in extension her own.She eventually decided on a simple, yet elegant dress, her own creation.
It was a spaghetti strap dress, made of black silk, which fell just above her knees. Black lace was skilfully sewn onto the edge of the skirt, increasing its length, covering the scrapes on her knees.
She paired it with a bright red shawl, partially covering her shoulder and the neckline. She braided her hair, and slipped on a beautiful neckpiece, adorned with pearls.
A slight blush, a little eyeliner and red lip balm completed her look, and Marinette couldn't help but feel proud of herself. After clicking a picture and sending it to Chloe, she stepped out of her room.
Her aunt too had dressed up, her short hair curled.Marnitte felt rather happy when she realised the dress her aunt was wearing – a dark blue off the shoulder dress, which complimented her aunt's body, with a small slit in the skin tight skirt – was her own creation.
It was an MDC original – she had told her aunt immediately about one of her alter ego’s– and she knew that it was her aunt's way of supporting her.
“You look so stunning Selina !’ Marinette exclaimed. Her Aunt, who had been staring out their apartment window, looked at her, and her face spilt into a contagious smile, her eyes mischievous, “Why thank you, Kitten, you've certainly dressed up too. Got a certain boy in mind, maybe ?”
Marinette shot her aunt a scandalised look, “What ?”
“Oh nothing, don't mind me.” Her aunt winked at her, walking out of the apartment, “Come on, our ride’s waiting.”
<•••••••••••••••••••••••>
The Wayne Manor certainly lived up to its name. The architecture of the manor was really impressive, and Marinette was getting so many ideas just by looking at it.
As they neared the gate, Marinette subconsciously fiddled with her ring, a silver one with a black onyx set in it. Or at least, that's what it looked like to the world. It was in fact the most condensed form of the miracle box, disguised as a birthstone ring.
Ever since Bunnxy’s visit, Marinette had been on the edge. They still had no clue as to who Hawkmoth could be, and they were running out of time–
Slightly embarrassed, Marinette followed her aunt, and stood behind her as she rang the doorbell. Almost immediately, the door opened, and a man, who appeared to be in his sixties, greeted them.
“Welcome Madam Kyle, Miss Kyle, to The Wayne Manor.”He introduced himself as Alfred, the head butler. Marinette followed Selena and Alfred, who were exchanging small talk.
If the entrance was grand, the dining hall that Alfred had led them to was absolutely out of a fancy castle from a movie. The table was unusually long, capable of easily seating 20 something people.
The chairs were made with a dark mahogany wood, the same shade as the table, and were covered with plush red velvet. Three chandeliers decorated the room, the one in the centre bigger than the other two.
Bruce was standing facing the table, but he had turned to face them as soon as they entered.
“Selina, Marinette welcome !” He said, a wide smile on his face. He kissed her aunt, slightly embarrassing Marinette who looked away, cheeks red.
He then led both of them to their chairs. Bruce sat at the head of the table, seeing as he was the head of the family.
Selena sat down next to him, and Marinette sat next to her.
As if on cue, people — who Marinette assumed were the rest of the family members — trickled in, one after the other.First came a man, who seemed to be in his early twenties, with black wavy hair and blue eyes – similar to Bruce. He was followed by a woman with tan skin, reddish pink hair, and the most gorgeous bright green eyes.
They both sat down opposite to Marinette, leaving the seat right next to Bruce empty.
Just behind them were two boys. The first one, who seemed to be in his twenties too, had a bright white streak in his hair, turquoise eyes, and a strangely destructive aura around him. The one behind seemed to be of the same age, with bags beneath eyes.
They, too, sat on the other side of the table. Following them was a girl Marinette knew, as she had seen her at the academy before. She looked very much like Chloe, but with a more... approachable vibe.
Damian walked in soon after that, and made a beeline for the chair next to Bruce. Her heart sped up inexplicably, and she tried not to satet at him- and failed anyway. He took the chair next to Bruce opposite to Selena and by extension — her.
Green eyes met Blue ones.
He seemed to be startled at her existence, but Marinette ignored it. She smiled at him sweetly.
“Well, now that everyone's here, I believe introductions are in order.” Bruce said, looking around.
“Everyone, this is Marinette, my niece. She's been staying with me for the past two weeks, and will be staying here till the end of the term.” Selena said, smiling at Marinette.
“Hi everyone.” Marinette said, cringing slightly at how much she sounded like Lila.
“Hi Marinette, I'm Stephanie! It's so nice to meet you.” The pretty blonde girl said, a huge smile on her face. Her eyes shined with enthusiasm, just like her golden hair.
“Nice to meet you too Stephanie.” Marinette replied, matching Stephanie’s energy.
“Please, call me Steph." She said, before pointing to the boy opposite to her, “This is Tim, my boyfriend.”
“Hi Marinette.” The boy, Tim said. His eyes had dark circles and he looked quite like the dead, with his pale face. But the small, tired smile that adorned his face told a different story, the one of a fellow insomniac trying his best.
“Hi, Tim.” Marinette replied, as Stephanie- Steph continued the introduction.
“That's Jason” - “I can introduce myself ya know ?” - “and he's a bit on the dramatic side.” The boy with the white strip in his hair decided to interrupt her, with his very rich gotham accent.
“I'm not ? Anyway, Marinette, it's a pleasure to meet you. Fair warning, run while you can, I couldn't convince Selena but you can- ow !” Marinette winced, as Jason was whacked on the head by someone who Marinette assumed was the oldest Wayne brother.
“Don't mind him, he thinks he's funny. I'm Richard, but call me Dick.” The blue eyed man replied, smiling at Marinette, ignoring Jason's mumbles about abuse.
“Di-Dick ?” Marinette asked, confused.
“Tt, His name's Richard, but he likes to be called that.” For the first time in the dinner, Damian had spoken. Marinette stared at him surprised. He seemed determined to look everywhere but at her.
“I see..” Marinette trailed off.
“But really, do call me dick, it's fine.” Dick said. “Okay.” Marinette replied, and a tiny silence followed.
It was promptly broken by the woman with bright red hair.“Can I call you sunshine ?”
“Sunshine ?”
“Yeah, you're like a ball of sunshine.” The woman replied, laughing slightly.
“Yay, thank you. I am Kory, Dick’s girlfriend.” The woman said, smiling widely.
Just like that, the table slipped into casual conversation. All was well, till the akuma alert blared on Marinette's phone and her heart froze. It was a level ten akuma, the most dangerous one.
She had to leave. Fast.

Chapter 7: THE DARK KNIGHT
Word count: 856
T/W - SA (it's not graphic, but just to be on the safer side, the part is divided by red lines)
Just as Marinette was on her way back to her aunt's home, where she now lives, could you believe it the akuma alert in her phone rang, and it just so happened to be a level 7 akuma, a rather fatal one.
The alley way to Marinette's left was the best option to hide in and transform. Without a second thought , she dashed into the alley way.
But it would seem all her luck had run out.
“Look what we have here.” The man holding her at gunpoint crooned, as his partner stood in front of Marinette, a menacing smile on his marred face.
“Well well, if it isn't an itty-bitty schoolgirl, from that fancy Gotham Academy at that.” Her captor said, his voice sending a shiver down Marinette's spine, as he squeezed her, his hand going lower and lower “I'm sure your parents would pay a hell lotta money for their beloved daughter, don't ya think ?”
“Le-Let me go Monsieur,” Marinette said, with a heavy french accent. She hoped they would let her go when they realised she was a foreigner, and she wasn't worth much.
Unfortunately, that wasn't the case.
The man's grip on her waist tightened. “My, a French girl ?It must be my lucky day.”
“Ernie, I have an idea. I'm sure she would bring more money if sold, than held as hostage. S’not every day that you find a European chick… or a hot one.” The man in front of her said, dragging a finger down her cheek, her neck, and below stopping just above her chest.
Marinette swallowed back a gasp, she had to escape, but how-
A shadow covered them, and the man in front of her turned away from her, trying to look for the caster of the shadow, only to bump into the shadow.
Belatedly, Marinette realised the shadow was actually a man.
“Step away from her. Now.” A deep voice echoed across the alley.
The effect was immediate. Just in a blink of an eye, the man who had been holding her at gunpoint, loosened his grip, just enough for Marinette to slam her head against his.
A sickening crunch, and a string of swears let Marinette know, she had successfully broken his nose. Using his pain to her advantage, she elbowed him, and managed to grab his gun.
In the meanwhile, the man -who Marinette realised was the Dark knight of Gotham- had made quick work of the other thug.
When Batman tried to place a hand on her shoulder, Marinette's instincts took over, and she shot at him.
Of course, it missed, just grazing The Bat, who had ducked before Marinette could even react.
“Easy there. I'm here to help.” His voice was unusually soft and comforting.
Marinette collapsed to the ground, and her vision was blurred. She realised she was shaking.Taking a deep breath, she looked up at the bat.
“I.. I'm so-sorry for trying to shoot y-you,” she said, her voice shaking.
“It's fine. Now get up, where do you live ?”
“I.. an apartment just around the block.”
“Then why were you here ?” He asked, his voice sternly.
“Something shiny caught my eye, and I just wanted to look at it.” Marinette lied.
“Gotham isn't a safe place to wander around. Hurry up to your home now.”
Without another word, Batman disappeared into the shadows, the muted sound of a grapple hook indicating that he had left. At that moment, her akuma alert app rang again.
To Marinette's surprise, it was showing that the akuma had been defeated, and that Chat Noir had destroyed the akuma.Just as she had expected, many were wondering where Ladybug was.
Suddenly she remembered Batman's words, and hurried out of the alley and ran all the way back to her Aunt's apartment.
<•••••••••••••••••••••••>
“I'm home !” She announced, slightly out of breath. Hopefully her aunt wouldn't scold her again.
“Marinette Draper- Kyle what in the world were you thinking ?”
Apparently, her aunt was still very mad. After about 15 minutes of lecturing her, Selina finally let her go. Marinette took a quick shower, and came back out for dinner.
That's when her aunt dropped the most unexpected news.“Marinette, you need to be home by 6 tomorrow, we are going to the Waynes for dinner.”
“...why ?” Marionette cringed, that was a dumb question. Obviously,Selina wanted to introduce her to her fiance and his family. After all, Marinette was Selina's only family.
“Well, Bruce just wanted to meet you properly, and introduce you to his family. And…” Selina hesitated before continuing, "I just wanted you to meet his family too, you know. They're nice kids, though they seem intimidating at first. But if you don't want to, I understand”
“No, no….”Marinette said, hurriedly. Her aunt's face fell and Marinette realised just what she had said.
“I mean, no I don't want to cancel, I’ll come !”
And just like that, Selina's mood improved drastically, her face glowing with happiness.
But there was something in her eyes, a rather mischievous twinkle in her eyes, that made Marinette regret agreeing.
Oh well, what's the worst that could happen ?
