my buddhist ass when zoro’s sword is named enma and he references the 36 earthly desires
Oh sweet caring Guan Yin, have mercy on us all. The news is wearing down on me lately, let your kindness grant us relief.
Hello! I was wondering, do you have any other Buddhist blogs on here that'd you recommend? a weird amount of the Buddhist blogs here seem either very secular Buddhist leaning or just spread a lot of misinformation ):
you're right, there are not a lot of buddhists on here! this site is western dominated (which i am part of), and the western view of buddhism often veers secular + can tend to dismiss the ‘mystical’ aspects. i only have a handful of blogs to give you, and i'm not sure if this is what youre looking for.
apologies to anyone who doesn't like being tagged! @under-olympos-bodhi-tree @buddhadharmastudyandpractice (theres also a tumblr community with the same name) @mandyluvsu @commonplacebuddhism @officialbuddhistposts @meanbuddhist
thanks for the ask!! i hope i could help a lil
i’ve received several blessings from Selene and hold an insane amount of reverence for her in my heart. i’ve specifically venerated her as maternal to me from the start of my practice. but lately, Guan Yin has taken a very maternal role in my worship and meditation. i’ve found when i ask myself who my “heavenly mother” is my brain veers towards Guan Yin. i still look at Selene in awe, but is it “mother” or just “radiant goddess” yaknow?
i’m experiencing a bit of confliction and need to pull some tarot (this feels deserving of a ritual!). part of me wonders if the moon related blessings were from Guan Yin, or if one could have two “matrons” perse, or if i’ve been interpreting my dynamic with one or both incorrectly. most of me isn’t worried about how it turns out. ultimately i know it will be okay. spirituality and belief can be fluid, and no amount of swimming against the current changes the way the river flows.
i’d love to hear if any others have had similar experiences OR could recommend a tarot spread bc i’m at a bit of a loss of where to start
just finished reading reincarnation by thich nhat hanh. i REALLY enjoyed it. it challenged a lot of my beliefs as someone who believes in literal reincarnation, but doesn’t that make it valuable to read and learn from? on a separate note, i could see this book being VERY soothing for those dealing with grief or loss, if that’s helpful to anyone :)
there’s a grief that comes with practicing a religion considered “dead”, if it’s even acknowledged as existing in the first place. we don’t even have evidence of what the religious day-to-day was like, just theories. greco-buddhism lives and breathes, she is not just a cultural exchange from long ago.
just downloaded a bunch of sanskrit learning apps on a whim! we’ll see if this leads anywhere. does anyone on here know sanskrit or pali?
