Chris sat nervously in the holding cell they had put him in, fingers tapping nervously as he waited to figure out just what was going to happen now. He had a bad feeling in the pit of his stomach, wondering if Natalie had gotten word to Elizabeth about what happened. If not, then once again he was on his own.....Chris really hoped that wasn’t the case.
April followed the woman and kept her mouth shut once Darren was no longer in site. There was nothing left to say and she refused to beg for her freedom. She was still in shock that he had handed her over to what she had now learned were his real coworkers. One of her closest friends was involved with all of this, and he hadn’t even bothered to warn her to stay out of the building today. She could have easily woken up and left first thing in the morning to avoid all of this, if Darren had only given her a heads up.
“Keep up.” One of the guards surrounding her barked as he nudged her forward. While lost is thought she must have slowed down without realizing it. She didn’t say anything in return, only sped up her pace. There were four guards walking beside and behind her, with the woman in the business suit up front. They had her locked in like she was some kind of animal, and if they hadn’t been so worried about frightening people sue was sure that they would have been carrying guns as well. There was no doubt there were holstered under their jackets though.
Diana came to a stop and opened an unmarked door, one April had passed by several times and always assumed to have been a janitorial room or utility closet. “After you.” The older woman said with a smile when April looked up at her. She scowled and walked into the room that was much larger than she would have anticipated. Two of the guards followed her inside before the door shut.
The room was dimly lit but April immediately noticed a man sitting at a small table. There was an empty chair across from him that she assumed was for her, but she didn’t move. None of this made any sense. Were they about to interrogate her? There was nothing for her to tell them. She refused to give up any information on Robert or anything he had told her about his people. That’s what friends did, they kept their mouths shut.
“Miss Astor, correct?” April continued to stare at him, not acknowledging that he was right. “That’s what Agent Masters told us, so we’ll go with a yes. Please take a seat.” One of the guards nudged her again when she didn’t move, this time much more forceful than necessary.
“Hands off, asshole.” She muttered as she pulled the chair out and sat down. Her arms crossed over her chest while she sat back, a sign that she had no intention of making this easy on them.
“That’s cute, but pointless. You’ll either tell us what we need to know or we’ll use alternatives methods to confirm what we suspect.”
“Oh, what you suspect? From what Darren tried to accuse me of, it sounds like you all took the brown acid.” April snorted as she looked the man dead in the eyes. She knew that she couldn’t let them know that she knew about any of this, anything about Robert. He had already saved her life once and gotten her out of numerous jams. That was the most important thing.
“I think you do know something and I think you’re scared. You’ve started developing…” He looked down at the small file that was sitting in front of him. “Something to do with fire. Very interesting.”
“I’m going to tell you what I told Darren. I have no idea what the hell happened the night in the bar, when he thinks I made some drink catch on fire. The woman had been messing with me all night, I’m sure it was just some stunt she pulled.” April rolled her eyes for good measure, trying to make it seem like this was all just some big misunderstanding. Violet had to have been the one to make the glass explode and now they were using against her.
“It’s a nice story, but we both know the truth. You made that glass explode.” The man grinned and leaned forward on the table. It wasn’t something warm or friendly, it was cold and sinister, something that made April visibly cringe.
“How the hell could I made a glass explode? We aren’t living in some sci fi show, this is the real world and shit like that doesn’t just happen.” She was determined to make a stand and she would be damned if they locked her up for being something she wasn’t.
“That’s what we’d like for you to tell us.”
“Who is us? Who are you? Don’t you have any manners? You can’t even tell me your name.” April crossed her legs and sat back in the chair once more. “Come on, you want something you have to give something.” She reached into the pocket of her jacket to pull out her cigarettes when one of them guards started moving toward her.
“Cool it Cujo, just grabbing my smokes. I can smoke in here right? I mean I smoke in my home in the building so I guess I can smoke down here too. Especially since you don’t seem to be abiding by any rules yourself.” She didn’t wait for an answer but lit the cigarette and took a long drag before ashing it on the file folder he was looking at.
“Go ahead, you won’t be leaving anytime soon.” The man mimicked the same stance she had after brushing the file off. “You don’t need to know my name, and I will be the only one asking the questions. He nodded his head and the guard grabbed the cigarette from her and crushed it under his boot.
“When did you first notice your powers?”
“Come on, you have to be smarter than that, how many times do I have to tell you that I don’t have any?”
“You’re lying.”
“Oh please, don’t you think if I had any, I would have used them to get away from you by now?”
“Not if you’re alone, you don’t stand a chance of making it out of here.”
“Who said I was alone?”
“When did you first notice your powers?”
It went on like that for hours, and the longer April refused to answer the question the more irritated the man got. At first he was cool and composed but the longer she stalled the more angry he became. After the first hour he was banging his fist on the table, then it moved on yelling, screaming and finally he flipped the table over on its side. It didn’t matter how scared she was becoming, watching this man crack under whatever pressure his superiors were putting on him was enough for her to keep the charade up.
“You don’t want to talk to me? That’s fine. We have alternative methods.” That’s when April began to worry. “I’ll see you downstairs.”
“What do you mean downstairs?” She asked, visibly nervous for the first time.
“Scared now little girl? You should have thought about that before acting all tough.” He stood up and looked at the men that were standing behind her. “I need to check with Agent Devlin. I’ll meet you downstairs. Get her to the lab.” The agent gave her one last smirk before walking out the door.
“You can’t fucking do this.” The two men didn’t say anything, they just pushed her out of the door where the other two men had been waiting. April’s hands began to shake as they lead her to the elevator.
Rachel's eyes widened when she heard her. Game over. She was done. It was time to act. Nipping at her bottom lip, she realized how close she was in proximity with her. There was no way she could run, unless… They were headed for the stairwell and instantly, Rachel knew she got at least one shot. Quickly, she jerked her elbow closest to the woman, making sure it hit her directly where she knew would hit her hard. So, the self-defence classes were going to be useful after all. Hoping it might have injured her for just a bit, the blonde dashed for the stairwell.
God, what an idea. She could hardly believe all this was happening. Even as she briskly followed after Gabriella, even as they scrambled through halls and glanced over their shoulders. It was all very real, of course -- but oh, so, unreal.
It was actually...kind of cool, dare she say it? Someday she'd be able to float, maybe fly! How many times, as a child, had she wished she could do just that?
But something about this situation told her, quite clearly, that this wasn't all fun and games. She frowned and guessed she'd have to find out.
"Uh-" she started, "you haven't told me where we're actually headed!"
Andrea stood in her lab eyeing the guards suspiciously as they brought in the next person. She looked up to see a somewhat familiar face. "Hello Melody, we've met briefly before," she said with a warm smile trying to make the experience as pleasant as possible for the other woman. "My name is Andrea. I'm just going to be taking a little blood sample. Why don't you go ahead and take a seat?" She motioned to the chair and shot the guards leading the woman in a stink eye before turning around to the table full of supplies. When they had asked this of her, she reminded them that she wasn't a nurse and not a medical doctor, but it meant nothing to them.
April had been pawned off to some men that looked like they were trying to be agents from The Matrix. After Darren had left her with Amelia, the young woman wasn't sure what to do with her, so she instructed these men to escort her somewhere else. They kept mention the test subjects and the second something, but April had no idea what they were talking about. Unfortunately, they thought she was lying.
She squirmed and kicked but the men dragging her along were far more stronger than she was. Finally she saw that they were taking her towards an elevator, the first one she had seen working since the power had gone out. "Let go of me!" She yelled, doing anything she could to keep from getting in that metal box.
Like a puppy left alone, Lana was beginning to accept her fate in the little real estate office, spinning herself sick until Vincent finally returned to her. There hadn't been much to talk about since he went to go find the other Second Gen. Sure, there were a few shady people that strode down the hall at one point, but she could see they weren't looking to get into any rooms. "How was your trip?" she asked, rising from her seat. She had to place a hand on the desk to keep herself from falling over for a few seconds.
Tracing The Dots - Event Task 3 // Vanessa & Andre
The tension was thick in the quickly heating air, causing all sorts of people to start screaming at one another or even shoving. Andre was a bit distracted with the curls he was doing with the steel bar in his hands. Though, as he saw something flying towards him, he ducked out of the way and got up to see who did it. Not seeing anyone, he started looking at everyone and trying to do the best thing possible, keep others from fighting. Shoving the metal bar and himself between two men who seemed to be in each other's face, he sneered at the both of them before looking between them. "Stop this stupid fuckin' shit. I get that this place is fuckin' hot but keep your fuckin' heads, okay? You..." He said to the man on his left, gesturing to the men's bathroom. "Go find a bucket and fill it in one of those sinks in the bathroom." Andre looked to his right, nodding at the man before pointing at a couple of the children. "Go and find something to help keep those kids occupied but cool at the same time." He said, watching as both men walked away and looking around. Seeing a blonde woman, he tapped her on the shoulder with his left index finger. "Excuse me, could you help me a second?"
