Fear is a motif across multiple characters in RWBY, namely in people who should be allies to the heroes but turn against them due to ultimately succumbing to fear. This is significantly weakened if not outright removed in some characters in Fixing RWBY

Roman stayed with Cinder due to knowing that if he ever tried to betray her he would die due to the massive power gap between himself and Salem's faction. His speech explaining this to Ruby was completely unchanged in FRWBY. But gets completely thrown away due to Oz possessing him and pesters him into joining the main cast. No overcoming his fears or anything like that, just do the plot and act out of character because a voice in his head is annoying him

Lionheart is the most obvious example, as his fear of what Salem would do to him is what caused him to betray his nation and sending Mistral's huntsmen to their deaths. He's based off of the cowardly lion after all. In FRWBY he mostly keeps this motivation, but it's almost a background element due to adding in new priorities for Leo's betrayal. He hates that Oz is always lying and manipulating him, and he feels like he has all the pressure of a leader with none of the respect due to his status as a faunus

Ironwood and Raven also interact with the theme of fear, but since I have bigger posts planned for them I'll be brief. In FRWBY this is completely gutted

Raven probably interacts with the theme of fear the strongest due to her screen time and being a defining flaw in her. Raven leaving Oz went from fearing Salem, to finding out that Oz is keeping the war with Salem going forever due to not wanting her to die. Being disgusted by this of course she abandons his cause

Ironwood's paranoia which stems from his fears was a key reason for his death and Atlas' fall. Instead in FRWBY he's making ill-informed decisions based off the information available to him being incomplete which causes him to arrest WBY and shoot Ruby off of Atlas

Hell Volume 7 has an episode literally titled The Enemy of Trust. And what is that? Fear

The theme of fear was heavily weakened or completely removed. Replaced with reasons related to an inability to trust Ozpin due to him being a villain in this universe, and in Roman's case it's completely unaddressed after V3. This sacrifices thematic cohesion and character flaws for an attempt to make them "smarter," more "rational." An obsession Celtic Phoenix has

Headmasters & Acute Stress Responses

Idle thought but ya know how the Schnees all embody a response to abuse?

Willow = Freeze

Winter = Flee

Weiss = Fight

Whitley = Fawn

What if the Headmasters of the academy have a similar thing going on in regards to their dynamic with Salem?

Ozpin = Freeze, while he took some action he was overall very passive and wary of taking action himself to his side detriment.

Leo = Fawn, pretty self explanatory, he fawned on the source of his fear in the hopes of avoiding a terrible fate.

Ironwood = Flee, this one might surprise but the thing is Ironwood only fought when he thought he could win it all the second he felt Salem could take him he tried to book it.

This would make Theodore = Fight, which would fit with what I have heard of him, though there's a few ways that this could go story wise.

Fight = Good, IE like how Weiss's fight response was ultimately more good for her than it was bad.

Fight = Manipulated, IE like the other headmasters his response will be taken advantage of and his penchant for fighting will lead him to either waste resource or pick a fight he can't win.

Fight = Complicated, if the scenario or situation ends up more complicated through one means or another, such as the siblings or some other faction requiring a more nuanced response, fight is unhelpful.

So how did Hazel and Tyrian kill all those huntsmen so fast?

It gets forgotten a lot, but I should remind casual viewers that there were fight scenes in Volume 5 finale, both with the Wight Fang outside and the HELM inside. A part of this I think it's because there wasn't a real explosive finish to the fight, as when we cut back, we see the remaining three (Leo having fled earlier) being cornered. No decisive finishing move, it's just...done. Oz did said they'd have to wear Hazel down, which I imagine may have gotten monotonous to animate and watch.

Another part of it is because the real showdown is between Yang and Raven. But rather than a climatic duel, it's a battle of wills, with Raven trying to justify herself and Yang not having it. It's a testament to Yang's character development that instead of throwing down, she convinces Raven to give up the Relic, seeing the disconnect between Raven's immediate plan and her intent. The battle Yang wins by using her head, not her fists.

Loving this games

I recently finished playing 2 games that I liked a lot. They are quite short so it didn't take too long to finish them 100%, but I really enjoyed the time I was playing. Alicemare

The first one is Alicemare, the story is short but I loved all the characters, even though my favourite ones are Stella and Chelsy <3.

LiEat

The second game I finished is one that is from the developer, and I absolutely loved it. I loved all the characters, their relationships, and how in every part of the game you have different outfits, and the design of every one of them is super cute and cool. I also like a lot that you buy the whole game with everything; you don't have to buy part for part.

In a reality where humans never won and are slaves to faunus Leo gets to fucking his invincible pet Pyrrha

Pyrrha smiled almost motherly as Leo pulled out of her and came on her backside before fainting. She chuckled and started cleaning up.

It had taken some work finding a man this pathetic to seduce and make her 'master'. Thankfully training him had taken 20 minutes and some fake moans. In the end men were easy no matter the species. That was why the Faunus would soon fall, too confident in their power they thought even trash could be in charge.

Idly realized that being a lion faunus was absolutely perfect for Lionheart (beyond being one of the cowardly lion allusions). Lions are notoriously lazy, conflict averse, and ones forced to live solo die pretty quick. Either they get mobbed by hyenas, stomped by a large herbivore, or make the mistake of attacking humans. Like, yup, Leo on all counts.
