idk how to say this eloquently so i’m just gonna say it however because we’re moving backwards within the community at a simply staggering rate

lesbians exist, they exist they exist they exist. they exist and deserve to do so in media too. the obsession from people within the community to call every lesbian you see in media as bisexual absolutely baffling to me.

the argument is always ‘well they haven’t stared down the camera and told us all they’re a lesbian and therefore i’m going to ignore every single glaringly obvious piece of context that she’s a lesbian and invalidate that’

it’s fucking degrading. the community doesn’t do it to gay men in media. they get to be gay. but for a woman there has to be a way you all find a way to worm a man into the situation.

is the idea of women existing in a space where they have completely decentralised men so terrifying to you?

i’m seeing people saying that shipping steve with robin isn’t lesbophobic and i just. i just laughed. like that’s how toxic people are to the lgbt community I- sis even i shipped them but immediately stopped after she came out. and i’m not even a lesbian. and even steve mf harrington accepted that she’s gay and got over it. so why can’t you?? and shipping them after her coming out is like shipping buffy and cyrus from andi mack. or shipping betty and kevin from riverdale. it makes you look like a fucking clown. just stop. no one cares if you shipped them before robin’s coming out all that matters is that you can’t ship them now that you know she’s a lesbian. it’s erasing her sexuality. and she’s not bi as even the actress and the duffer brothers confirmed that she’s lesbian!! and as someone who’s probably bi (kinda still questioning), i would love some rep but when it’s clearly shown that robin is a lesbian and you erase that fact and say she’s bi, sis that’s not okay. and love the fact that most of these people with bi robin hcs are straight and just want her to fuck steve. lmao, you don’t know the struggles that lgbt people go through. lesbians now have a mf character in stranger things (a show that’s set in the 80s) that they can look up to! a character just like them! and they’re not alone. and that they can too find a friend like steve who’ll support them. a friend who’ll accept them instead of being homophobic. and you, hcing robin as bi erases all of that. coming out is hard and robin had the courage to do that. so applaud her instead of erasing her identity. i’m so sorry for all the lesbians who have to see the ridiculous ass posts about steve and robin. for the last time: she’s a lesbian, dingus.

In a world where men were better, you still think there would be as many lesbians?

This message insinuates that lesbians only exist as a reaction to men and not as a natural sexuality that doesn't revolve around men.

If men as a class were better people, it wouldn't change my sexuality. Loving women exclusively is its own thing completely separate and not influenced by men existing.

but not:

lesbian

i would never expect a corporation to show respect to lesbians, but the fact that ea went out of their way to find flags for identities that aren’t even inherently lgbt (asexual, aromantic, polysexual, intersex) and included a flag for heterosexual people but then excluded lesbians... i’m tired! i’m so fucking tired of lesbians being excluded!

What is it with cishet men anyways? I'll randomly be messaged by men who call me cutesy names like "my dear." Never my name, mind you. As soon as I say "my wife" the next question is "are you a guy?" And when I say no, they act all confused. Even saying I'm a lesbian doesn't seem to register. It's right about there that they'll just stop talking, or even block me after an angry rant. And it happens all the damn time. And yes, I keep answering them even when I suspect it's coming, because once in a great while it'll be a client or student who just doesn't have much sense of things at first. I can't afford to be rude just in case.
