book stories

         cherry had a lot of emotions upon hearing they were going to the us, and not just the us; los angeles. cherry was born in los angeles, and lived there for sixteen years of her life. she was happy to go back there, even if it was only for a little over a month. she wasn’t sure if she’d be allowed and/or have the time to meet her friends here she had in los angeles. but no matter what, she was going to enjoy it, excited to see all the familiar things. find the candy she grew up with which she couldn’t get in korea, to speak english much more, and to just enjoy it.

together for her today had joined sarang, the two wandering streets together, and now they had arrived at a book store. cherry wasn’t really that much into books, but she kind of wanted to, and she was pretty sure it would be easier for her to read books in english rather than korean. “are you finding anything good?” she walks over to sarang.

CHECKING IN WITH THE PARK FAMILY.

Park Dongwoo and Son Aejung, a technician and art teacher respectively, began growing their now large family in 2006 when they adopted Seojin from an Ulsan orphanage. They were never wealthy by any means but their desire to have a family of their own and give a home to children who did not have one of their own lead them to then become the adoptive parents of Sarang and then Chanhyeok. Their only biological children are Dahye and Dasom; however, all of the kids are treated with the same love and attention. 

Due to Aejung and Dongwoo’s jobs taking up a portion of their time, Seojin began to take on the role of something of a third parent to make sure his siblings were looked after well and willingly took on the responsibility of cooking meals for the family. He will often check up on his younger siblings even now.

Sarang is lovely and softspoken in Seojin’s eyes, but he will often see a spark in her smile when she teases him to provoke his protective nature. Despite being closer in age than the rest, he still very much so views her as an innocent kid. Chanhyeok is rebellious and reminds Seojin of himself as a young teen. Being the most recent addition to the family only five years ago, there’s room for helping this wayward kid. He loves to skateboard and isn’t overly interested in school but takes after Dongwoo’s handiness with technology. Dahye is a very bright child for her age. She is sharp and surprisingly persuasive when it comes to turning things her way. There has even been playful talk from her about selling her soon-to-be-famous siblings’ old shoes to make a quick profit. She’s quite fond of keeping to herself but enjoys spending time with her family whenever she gets the chance.  Dasom can only be described as a happy pill. A vitamin in human form. She is loud and sweet, and Seojin dotes on her so much that she has become incredibly attached to him. He claims that she’s his biggest fan and promised to show her all the things he does so she can make sure she knows he’s doing okay.

     @lgcisa is going on a date!

     eunji not-so-patiently waited for her date to arrive. she worked hard on her outfit, but wondered if it was too little or too much. whenever she went to legacy, she would always wear her leggings and swim or workout shirts. she could not be caught without a ponytail in either. even at home, when she went to bed, when she woke up, her hair was up in a tight, high pony. granted, at home, she lost the workout attire for baggy sweaters and either no pants or sweat pants, but, here, on a date, everything was different. she wore a denim skirt, a fitting sweater, and her hair fell freely across either of her shoulders. in her hair, a pair of sunglasses on her forehead sat unused.      she went out and about around the city all the time, dressed in whatever she wanted, but now she knew that someone from legacy was going to see her like this. would it be a good shock? a bad shock? she pressed her lips together.      she stood uncomfortably shifting from one foot to the other by the big ‘garden of morning calm’ sign. a cameraman filmed her the entire time, and the sound operator left a while ago. he must have been helping her date get his microphone on.      “ah-” she quickly let her lips go. she forgot she was wearing lipstick. had she ruined it? her friend sarang did her makeup especially for this day. ruining it might just be the straw to break the anxious camel’s back.      she took a deep breath and looked around. she fixed the yellow sunglasses atop her head. she spotted someone. a man, and a camera crew following him, just like a crew followed her, started walking down the path. she stood straight up. with eyes the size of the sun, she looked at the cameraman with her.      “do i look alright?” she asked. she got no response, just a camera in her face. she was left to her own devices. she turned towards whoever was coming, she still could not make out a face, and clasped her hands together in front of her. she waited patiently, though worriedly, for her date to see her.

━━━  ♚  FUTURE DREAMS SEASON 002 RETURNING CONTESTANTS ENTRANCE

just like last season, king entered the room with a triumphant demeanor. he’d been ranked first and he doesn't see why it would be any different this time, unless they changed things up and found new plot twists to keep the contestants on their toes. joining future dreams was a gamble, really. there was no way to really know what to expect. whatever was thrown his way, king decided he would confront it and turn it to his advantage. his humiliating loss will not happen again. and it's ironic that he thinks of it as such a failure, considering it greatly helped build a growing popularity. but it's never enough, and will never be enough.

he's not threatened by the new contestants. he knows he shouldn't be too arrogant and work as hard as if they were all his biggest rivals, though. but the newbies... they just don't have the experience the returning contestants have after one season, a mini concert, promotions. they also don't have as big of a fanbase. there's not to say a star won't emerge from that group, but king is confident that this season will only bring more spotlight onto him.

"glad to be back," he says in the beginning, greeting the others. the staff then explains that they will be seeing the newbies' on the screen, and they're encouraged to react and comment to what is being shown. to that, king takes a quick glance at the boy sitting right next to him. isn't he a new contestant? but someone calls him jun, and king remembers him as the kid who almost won the solo. clearly, he didn't make a lot of friends last season. he doesn't intend on making more this season either. he's here to win. and the joke will be on him once it is revealed that this time, they will win as units and not as individuals. probably an even bigger challenge than the solo was.

for now though, he watches the new boys’ introductions with attention and seriousness. he wants to hate them already. the rapper, hwang junho. is he a good dancer? a good center? if he is, he's definitely a threat. jeon hansol. he definitely can't hate that one even if technically, he should be wary during a competition. he doesn't necessarily wants to team up with friends. he needs to think of his own skills and of the best way to make them shine. hansol is... similar to him in many ways. “wish him the best, honestly. he can definitely go far with his skills. i’m gonna have to watch my back!” he says with a chuckle. jeon haru, one of his new roommates. he's young, a fresh face. he's on the cuter side, too. “ah, he ranked himself 11th?” it shows a lack of confidence, even if haru tried to turn it into a joke. kids are unpredictable, though. he hasn't seen a lot of what haru is capable of. “haru, if you’re watching this, you need to bluff even when you don’t believe it!” and he laughs for the first time since they began recording.

the girls, he's less focused on. there are a lot of new faces, some he recognizes, others he wonders how long they've even been in the company. he smiles when jueun's face is shown, wishing her well. his attitude is definitely different, as the girls aren't his direct competitors. he feels a lot more light-hearted and enthusiastic, showing stronger reactions than he did previously. he also openly cheers for minah, glad to see she finally decided to show the world what she's made of. he would take her to be on his team any day. he remembers sarang from the company dinner a few months back, too... still looking mildly familiar, but he can't put his finger on where he met her before. she seemed to act like they didn't know each other.

why did you join the show again?

he smiles. “i felt like my journey hasn’t ended yet. there are things i’m proud of fron last season, and also things i wish to improve on. i’m competitive, if you hadn’t figured it out already. i admit i’m a sore loser. i reacted strongly when i lost the solo.” and he puts on his most charming expression for what’s to come, because he’s about to bullshit his way out of this one. “it was nothing against yonghwa.” oh, it was. “i was mad at myself, because i didn’t meet the expectations the coaches set for me. i want to do better this time.”

❥ dating on ice

his heart is pounding in his chest, but jinyoung tries to remain calm. why did he ever sign up for this? is it his desperate attempt at trying to conform to society and experience what dating is like? dating a girl, of course. but he's never wanted to. he's never liked a girl in that way. would it be different in a romantic setting? real or not, he's never been on a date. most of his life, he was too focused on school and his extracurricular activities to really have the time. then he got busy with training.

it's almost ironic how the company very much discourages dating, but then throws their trainees into situations like this. do it for the camera, but don't bring your date home though! jinyoung wonders if he would ever be ready to lose it all for love. if he ever ends up loving someone enough, maybe he would. he thinks he would be the romantic type who would do anything for the person he wants to be with. then again, is it worth destroying his dreams?

lost in thought, jinyoung steps into the skating rink. he used to go often when he lived in france, but it's been years. is it like riding a bike? time to test the theory. he skates a few feet ahead, and sighs in relief. he's not quite as smooth as he once was, but not bad at all. only thing left is for his date to show up and despite the cold, his hands are moist. what should he say? should he smile a lot? should he say cute things to make her heart flutter? but what? does he even know her?

then she appears. he's definitely seen her around, but they've never really talked. still, jinyoung puts on a brave face and skates to her, breaking right in front to bow politely. "noona is my date, right? i'm choi jinyoung~"

EAT WITH JAE – 005.

a starter for @lgcsarang​

jaesun is often surprised by who ends up on his shows. more often than not, they’re people that he’s more than familiar with, but with sarang, he has to admit that he doesn’t know her as well as most of the other guests. sure, their time in legacy has overlapped for a bit, but for whatever reason, their paths just didn’t seem to cross. “thanks for joining the show,” he notes to her as they’re getting ready to get started.

“do you have any questions for me or how the show is going to go? anything specific you want me to ask you about?” he chuckles, “as much as this show is about cooking and eating, it’ll also just be a place for you to showcase yourself, you know?” he hopes that bit makes sense. “so i want to talk about the things that you’d like to share with the world.”
