okay while i love the drama of the montreal metros being an entire bunch of homophobes and basically forcing shane off the team, love to think about the idea of there just being a few loud homophobes who unfortunately carry a little too much weight and sway with everyone, and a bunch of guys who actually aren't that bothered by the news, maybe even quietly support it, but like. can't being themselves to speak up cos if Shane Hollander, the king of hockey himself, can't even take the heat, then they've got no hope
so they keep their mouths shut and they watch their best player walk away and they deal with the fact that they're now on the most hated team and biggest fucking joke in the league, but then, time passes, teams change, and the assholes that made their team a nightmare eventually retire, and they get a new coach, and then suddenly it's the next generation taking over
and maybe some of the guys who didn't care get traded out, but maybe some stay on with the metros, and suddenly there's post-game interviews or social media posts starting to crop up of them being like. yeah shane hollander's probably one of the best players we know. yeah we played with him on his last season in montreal and he probably doesn't even remember us but his fuck you speech in the locker room the day he walked away is top three locker room speeches of all time. yeah he's a fucking inspiring captain and we're doing our best to continue what he started. yeah we wish him all the best in ottawa. yeah he's one of the reasons we even got into hockey in the first place.
anyway the messy locker room drama they start dropping???? shane and ilya are fucking living for it
