knowing who's in/near the front is a skill we had to develop over time. getting to know each other, learning to pay attention to our thoughts and feelings, and noticing what it physically feels like for each of us to occupy the body all helped a lot. if you wish you were better at it, keep practicing! you'll improve over time.
(For this post I couldn’t come up with the best storyline based on photos, but recently had some bad weather that inspired me to write this storyline today.)
It was a quiet day in the library. Denise has been working on her laptop trying to type her new book that her editor needs by tomorrow. Weeks ago she had graduated from college. When she was in college she has made reckless decisions with partying with friends, but she always felt pressured by them as she’s a rather quiet woman. The last time she went to a party, her friends dared her to drink several shots. She was so !ntox!cated she only remembers talking to a guy whom carried her to a room in the frat house, they started making out and the next thing she knew she woke up wrapped up in a bedsheet naked underneath in the backyard of where her frat house is.
That was 8 months ago when she found out the guy gotten her very knocked up. She was a virgin and ended up pregnant with triplets! Yesterday at her ultrasound her doctor told her they weigh roughly 8lbs each and they could be 10lbs if she can carry to term. No wonder her belly is so heavy. She can feel them squirming around underneath the table as she finishes up typing her book. Denise needs to wrap it up before the major thunderstorm hits and knocks out the power. She can see the wind picking up outside and a loud howl of wind. Suddenly a siren outside starts to blare and the loudspeaker in the library comes on.
“Attention! A tornado has been sighted, please make your way to the basement!” And repeats two more times before the power flickers. Denise had quickly saved her document right before the power goes out.
Suddenly a man grabs her by the arm as she put her laptop in her bag. In his haste he could see the tornado approaching nearby and came to Denise’s aid. He placed his hand on the small of her back to guide her quickly seeing she’s very pregnant.
“We gotta move fast!” He said loudly as the roof is ripped off the building.
(I’m sorry for the delay I’ve been having medical complications and almost went to the ER yesterday. I’m doing okay now but still have pain.
You came from the flatline of the country. Some world wider than this one: here, the horizon comes in waves and spikes. Tall, sharp, beats. Your world is a tight sheet on a fresh dry bed. A land to lie down in. This land is for looking. Your eyes, like two open ponds pressed round into the hillside, press into the warm green angles of the valley.
