One of the many many things that I like about Love is Science is the female characters get to be sexual people without being portrayed as icky sluts. Yan Fei fantasizes when her hair gets washed (me too babe) or pretty much anytime she breathes. Joanna owns her sexuality and is still portrayed as this awesome friend & successful business woman that absolutely no one shames. There's no jokes made about them as characters for being women with desires. And this is so refreshing bc there are just too many dramas out there filled with shame and purity culture rot. I can't wait for them to develop Sheng Ying more.
I mean, I know we're all collectively losing our minds over Ou Wen and Mark, but the rest of the cast and the way the writer and director are taking on these non-trad relationships is so refreshing.
Love is Science combines one of my fav screenwriters for female characters (Lost Romance, Iron Ladies, Yong Jiu Grocery Store, Murphy's Law of Love) with one of my fav directors for lgbtq dramas (Dear Uranus, MODC, Crossing the Line) and it's really turned this into one of my favorite dramas of the year.
