Can we PLEASE normalize explaining things multiple times??? And just accessibility in general?

We do virtual school, and have processing disorders. We cannot always understand verbal words despite hearing fine, so we use googles accessibility feature ‘live captions’, they weren’t working in class today so I was lost, I asked my teachers to re explain in chat box for me, but they wouldn’t. They either just said they’d press a few buttons to help (it doesn’t, I cannot understand them), or just ignored me straight up.

Can we.. not??? I have legitimately no idea what was going on, all of the text were in super bright colors (on the presentation) so it was hard to read.. plus she went by it so fast!

Please normalize being more accessible.

is anyone else getting "live captions" appearing in a box whole scrolling through the dash? like, ill just be minding my business and then a black rectangular box shows up for a few seconds, populates some words with the header "live captions" and im just sitting here like, what is my phone tapping into this time?

Sometimes I miss captioning and sometimes I remember the struggle of trying to get Kiké Hernandez's name to go through the no-no words filter and I'm good.

Or like any time someone said "ch*nk in the armor" I'd be like... Oh no... What have you done. I have to press so many buttons in the next .5 seconds to make this appear on screen.

One time I captioned a Matteo Lane show and I had to take a nap after.

I have my own positive. I was just informed my phone does live captions. They aren't 💯 (think automated tiktok or YouTube ish) but they exist!

(why did my family not tell me this, I totally missed it under accessibility options when I got this phone. But it's probably not new information. But still. )

Impractical Use of Live Captions: Adding Captions to Half Life

I decided to try this as a quick experiment. Can you use the Live Captions program to add subtitles to a video game that doesn't have them like Half Life? The answer is: kind of.

It works pretty well in "cutscene" situations, where just one person is talking and there aren't many audio effects going on. But in normal gameplay where multiple characters might talk over each other, there are intrusive audio effects, and you may walk away from the character that's speaking, it's practically useless. (Obviously, it works better with clearer audio)
