Also, a scene from Bojack Horseman I wanted to counterscene with these two (it's kinda like a dream sequence. If I was drawing Simon's pov is red and chaotic meanwhile Anya's blue and serene. Also phoneline connection to the dead trope):
The submarine was collapsing around him. The immense presure caused the metal to give way, and Simon could see the blood spurting from the cracks.
This was it. He was gonna die here. Inside this rusty sardine can. Alone. Alone.
A tear rolled down his cheeck. God, he was crying like a boy. This was too much. All he wanted was curl up on himself, hide away in a secluded corner and cry. Cry until she would come and get him at the request of their mother.
His sister never forced him to do anything he didn't want to (unlike the adults). She never berated him. Let him take his time until je felt confortable leaving his hiding place.
God, he wanted to see her one last time.
Ring, ring, ring!
A phone?
Simon looked to the side, there was an antique phone on the sub's wall. There weren’t any phones in the sub just a few moments ago, but-- oh Hell.
Simon got up hapharzedly, pratically thorwing himself, holding to the wallphone's metal box to keep himself up. He took the handset, didn't even type anything in.
"Anya! Anya, are you there? Anya, I need you!" He shouted over the banging sound of the metal folding over itself, of bolts being forced out of the holes at max speed like bullets and the gush of blooding following suit. He would be drowning in blood in no time.
"Simon?" Picked a gentle, calm, slightly worried voice on the other end.
"Anya? THANK GOD! Thank God, sis'! Okay, sis, you gonna save me, right? I called you, you're comming to get me?" He was desperate, shaking, franticly begging to the phone.
"Simon, why did you call me?" She souded more confused than concerned. "I went with the Tulpar, I can't save you." And the realization hit hit like being soaked in cold water.
"You didn't pick up." The words left his mouth slowly.
"Right."
"We never had this talk..." He leaned against the sub's wall, slowly sliding to the floor.
"Yeah."
"And then... they put me here." The phone's wire twisted itself around his neck ever so slightly.
"It's too late... what's done is done." He could picture her eyes as she said it. Tired, gentle and blue.
"No..."
"There's nothing I can do, little bro. I'm not real, none of this is."
"So what do I do now?" He looked up, several leak spots gushing blood inside his vehicle.
"Simon, it doesn't matter."
"Well, if it doesn't matter, can I stay on the phone with you at least?" The blood was warm, at least he wouldn't be cpld in his final moments.
"Umm, okay."
"How was your day?" A simple question.
"Humm..." There was a pause, a pause in which Simon grew concerned until he heard Anya on the other side. "good." For some reason it felt like she was saying that more to herself than him. "My day was good."
