September 14, 2020 - Lovely Cotinga (Cotinga amabilis)
These cotingas are found in humid lowland forests of southern Mexico and Central America, in parts of Belize, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, and Panama. They eat mostly fruit, as well as invertebrates and some small vertebrates, often foraging alone in the canopy. Though they are mostly silent, their wings sometimes make a rattling sound as they fly.
the lovely cotinga is a brightly colored blue and purple bird found in mexico and south america. they prefer humid rainforest habitats, and are often found in the canopy eating fruits. females lack the bright colors of the male, and have soft grey and off-white plumage. x
