If you’re on a lookout for a thrilling and mysterious read, look no further than Lucy Clarke’s The Castaways. Set across two different timelines, this novel follows two sisters, Lori and Erin. They have a close relationship following their mum’s untimely death and were due to take a trip together to Fiji for a luxury holiday. ⁣ ⁣ However after an argument the previous night, Lori ends up boarding the plane alone. The plane disappears without a trace and two years later, Erin is still trying to figure out what happened to her sister. The story switches between timelines and ever so gradually the mystery behind both the plane disappearance and why Erin didn’t board the plane is unravelled. ⁣ ⁣ If you haven’t read this book yet, prepare yourself for one of the most tense and shocking flight scenes that I’ve ever read - certainly not a book to start in the air if you’re scared of flying! 😅 I also appreciated the tenacity and determination of Erin in trying to figure out exactly what happened to her sister, she refused to give in and wouldn’t rest till she had all the answers, even if she put herself in danger during the process. ⁣ ⁣ I also loved the scenes that were written from Lori’s point of view. Like her sister, there was a dogged determination and so much fight for survival, no matter the cost. The descriptions of what she went through are raw, compelling and definitely made me turn the pages and find out what was going on. ⁣ ⁣ As expected with a novel like this, it’s probably easier if you can suspend your disbelief and just roll with the story and enjoy it for what it is - a great thriller. I had some issues with how things ended that I simply don’t want to spoil but it did effect how I regarded the book overall. 🎧 B O O K R E V I E W : 🎧 The Castaways by @lucyclarke_author Rating: 5/5 stars Goodreads: 4.02 ⭐ I borrowed this book from Libby (the library app) as my monthly audiobook and I'm so glad that I did. After a few thrillers/murder mystery books that didn't really meet my expectations I really needed something from this genre to remind me why I love it! This book definitely did that! I always love a book that focuses on a relationship between sisters! Lori and Erin were both great characters and we got their dual POV in this book. Both characters where relatable and you could actually sympathies with each of them (something I haven't found in other thrillers I've read recently). The premise of this book was really good. I liked that we had the 'then' and 'now' chapters that always kept us trying to guess. At different points in the book I wanted to get to each of the POV chapters just to see what had happened in the past/present. By the last section of the book I couldn't stop listening. Every opportunity I was listening to the audiobook wanting to know what happens! I never thought I could feel so many emotions while reading a thriller. At one point Clarke almost broke my heart! I really liked the ending and how it wasn't the perfect ending that readers would imagine but kind of in-between what I wanted to happen and what I didn't want to happen. Book Review 

This was a fantastic thrill ride of a psychological thriller that I ended up devouring in one night, I just had to know how it would all turn out! 

I actually knew very little about this book going into it, I tend to go in blind with thrillers sometimes only reading the tagline and I haven't read anything by this author before so was really excited when first diving in, ( I love discovering new thriller authors ) and what a psychological thriller this was!

I really liked Elle and felt totally sorry for her struggling to write her book, trying to cope on her own after her marriage fell apart and it was easy to get swept away with her paranoia, until I too was questioning everyone. The setting is another thing that made this book work fabulously well too, such a twisty thriller that I was totally caught up in, is someone in Elle's house or is it all in her head, you'll have to read it to find out!

A total must read psychological thriller of 2018!
