SaNami in Luffy x Hancock (LuHan)

Before you read this post, please read the Post Hub first for explanation and clarity on what kind of post this will be, as well as my thoughts on this topic in the One Piece Manga and Story.

This one is really really tricky to consider just because of the fact that Luffy is a part of it but lets sadly take it with a grain of salt. Luffy x Hancock by itself is already a mammoth of a ship (P.S Aside from just hopeful shipping, Hancock’s character feels tailored for Luffy it is as if she was created for him but anyway), but whenever I look at them I can also see a reverse SaNami. Where Hancock is Sanji and Nami is Luffy.

First. I need to address this cute parallel:

Sanji has canonically gifted Nami a love letter, whether it was the first time or not we don’t know. The cute thing here is that we know how much Hancock loves Luffy, but this cover page was a Fan request which means Oda didnt think of it himself (but he chose it so a plus ig🤷🏻‍♂️) but the Sanji one was a normal cover story/page. One thing that led me to believe that he was writing a love letter to Nami was the expression on the Rabit’s face on the ground matches the Boa sisters’. There can still be a case made for Zeff too.

Since in this pairing Hancock is the Sanji, she is always straightforward. Hancock told Luffy straight up:

“I will go wherever you wish”. Sanji said many things but the closest to this one was from a cover page:

“With you to anywhere”. As well as saying it himself “Love is a hurricane”. We know for a fact that Hancock’s love is genuine but there are still people doubting Sanji’s. The name of the chapter where Sanji and Ussop head to save Nami from Enel is titled “True love’s Frontline rescue”. What more do you want?

Another cute moments that resembles each other were when Hancock/Luffy seperate in Impel Down and Sanji/Nami encounter in Enies Lobby:

It seems to me that Sanji and Hancock are quick to point out their true desires if they have the chance😂. Luffy was truly grateful from the bottom of his heart and Nami was actually impressed by his will (not to mention she let her tsundere side slip there for a second... baka...).

And of course, the infamous proposal☺️:

For this one I don’t really need to mention what Luffy and Hancock are. But what I will say is that both can be *Justified*.

I don’t know if you’re still taking questions about pairings, but how do you feel about Luffy x Hancock? I think they’re a very sweet couple, especially since Hancock kind of sees Luffy as her day of sunshine after suffering through so much hell when she was a slave. I know he rejected her marriage proposal before, but I’d like to think he wants to take things slowly before becoming serious with her and wouldn’t oppose being in a normal relationship with her first. 😁

For the sake of posterity, I am gonna specify that this analysis is contingent on post-timeskip Luffy! A ten-year gap is quite a difference, so I really don't even entertain the idea unless it's a post-canon concept, where Luffy is in his twenties and much more mature. Can't be going into uncomfy territory here :)

Ah, yes, LuHan! They are sweet and exist on almost two totally opposite extremes... Head-over-heels and completely disinterested, haha. Well, it’s not that Luffy’s disinterested, he just doesn’t think of love on the same plane that most people do. Regardless, they make a very quirky and interesting couple. I think they both have a lot to learn from one another. They certainly do make for a bomb-looking couple and accentuate one another well. I like the deep bond of trust they have. Luffy would definitely help Hancock with her deep-seated issues of slavery, because that’s just the kind of guy he is- he helps people. :) They are definitely a power couple ready to plague the Grand Line and I’m here for it! Let them slay!
