Hi, I know that trans men can do the same exercises to build muscles like cis men but how about lung capacity and breathing? How does that change? Some exercise practices really differentiate the two and I can't find an expert because they know nothing of trans and think I should follow female practices because T still does not grow my lungs.
i can’t really think of any specific exercises that require different lung capacity based on small lung volume or large lung volume (if you have examples, write back and let me know which you’re thinking of). If you’re a person of tall stature and you’re probably fine to do the large lung volume ones, and if you’re a petite person, you’d probably be better off sticking to the smaller lung volume exercises, regardless of the gender assigned at birth/gender ID. If there is an exercise that’s assigned a “male” lung volume/capacity/breathing, it’s going on the assumption that men have large lung volume, which isn’t always true (some cis men are very small, and have small lung volume/some cis women are very large and have large lung volume). It would be more effective to go by body size or actual lung capacity- and if you find you’re having trouble with a particular exercise (or one is too easy) switch to the one intended for the other gender and see if that’s better. mod mayhem
