hi Lryic! I always have time - it might just take me a little bit. And thank you so much!! Reminder that if anyone wants to read the full collection (of over 100K words of drabbles...) you can find it HERE ON AO3 :)
Meet me on the roof in ten minutes. Buck pockets his phone as he checks the time, also reading the message one last time from Eddie that he’d received nine minutes ago. He has no idea what’s going on. Eddie has been absent for the last couple of hours, despite them all being on shift and at the station with no calls. Any time he asked someone, he got a different excuse too. Taking the garbage out. Cap sent him on an errand. Napping. Working out. Yet Buck has not seen Eddie. This message is the closest he’s gotten. Climbing the stairs to the roof, Buck pushes the door open. The cool, night air settles across his skin, but it’s nice after the warm interior of the station. “Eddie?” Buck calls out quietly. He rounds the corner and comes to a sudden stop. Well. He found Eddie. Who is standing in front of a pile of blankets, fake candles flickering in the darkness around it and illuminating the space. There’s an actual basket sitting to the side too, along with some glasses and a bottle of something in a small bucket of ice. “Wh-what is this?” Buck asks, eyes lifting back up to Eddie. “Just because we’re working doesn’t mean we can’t celebrate our anniversary.” Eddie replies with a smile, holding his hand out. Buck moves closer, sliding his hand into Eddie’s. “Happy one year, baby.” “One year.” Buck echoes before they’re kissing. “Wow.” “I mean, it’s more like eight but one year of us being together.” Eddie chuckles, thumb grazing the back of Buck’s hand. “I wanted to do something special for you.” “I love it.” Buck tells him, voice wobbly and tears in his eyes. “I love you.” “Enough to say yes?” “Yes?” Buck repeats, gasping as Eddie lowers down onto one knee, still holding Buck’s hand. “Oh my god, Eddie…” “I love you, Evan Buckley. And I want to spend the rest of my life with you. Marry me?” “Fuck yes.” Buck drops to his knees and throws his arms around Eddie, “Absolutely yes!” They kiss, both with tears on their cheeks, but happiness filling their hearts. “Okay, okay,” Eddie pulls back, chuckling when Buck tries to chase him, “Hold on, Buck, I want to put your ring on!” “Oh,” Buck falls back onto his heels, “I get a ring?” “Of course you do, baby.” Eddie leans over, pulling a small box from under a fold in the blanket. He flips it open, revealing two rings. “We’re still at work, so you’ll have to wear the silicone one…but when we get home, you can switch to the metal one.” Buck can’t stop crying. “I love them.” He holds his left hand out, using his right hand to steady it when he realizes it’s shaking. Eddie selects the silicone ring from the box and slides it down Buck’s finger, lifting the hand to kiss it once it’s in place. “I love you.” “I love you too.” Eddie pulls Buck back in for a kiss, “Cap gave us an hour. And then he demands we celebrate with them.” “Wouldn’t have it any other way.”
