She smells like construction. It should be off-putting, but knowing her it’s probably because she was saving lives, and when is that not attractive? She’s sitting next to him on this couch for a TV segment for the New Titans. He gets why she was picked for this- she seems charming and bright in front of the camera. And she’s the only one here other than maybe Roy and Donna with any real media training. He’s less sure about why he’s here.
If it wasn’t him, though, it’d’ve probably been Donna. Roy is busy with Rose, and if it’s between Donna and Grant and Bart and Tara and Jarras… Kyle couldn’t do that to Donna. Not after the disaster that was her custody hearing. She may be Kyle’s ex, but they’re still friends.
“It’s definitely nice to work with a team again. Metropolis may miss me, but they know all they have to do is call. I make time for them too.” Kyle refocuses on Supergirl as she speaks. She speaks directly, and she stays very still in her seat. She’s leaning slightly towards the host, hands carefully folded together in her lap. “One day, I hope they won’t need me, of course. But until then, there’s a lot to be done.”
“That, and they have Superman.” Kyle says, and she makes eye contact with him. With all that talk of not being human, he expects to feel a bit off-put by her. Instead, all he sees is a bit of gratefulness and a human smile. The rest of the interview seems to blur past him as he watches her and answers the odd question or two. The host seems content to throw them fairly soft questions, probably too scared of Luthor to mention her more notable past affiliation to him.
Later, they meet a little ways above the studio- above the clouds, above the satellites, just out of orbit and away from Luthor’s prying ears. He gets there first, and then turns to watch as Supergirl flies up to meet him, arms outstretched behind her. He connects his ring’s field to her as he’d done last time they were in space together, so they can talk.
