okay wait. Did Gerson lose an eye? Did he and Undyne ( in undertale- not convinced that she won't lose an eye at some point in dr) both lose an eye?????? that's. probably not a great sign for susie.

But there's something about eyes too tho...

This puzzle is the first one you come across, and makes an appearance again in chapter 3 (I think?)

Seam is missing an eye too. Like Gerson, they have knowledge about the game that we don't have. So Gerson, Seam and Undyne are all missing an eye. We can't see Susie's eyes at the start of chapter 1 until she's let some of her walls down, while Kris remains with both eyes covered. Since they're a mystery to us. Kris also is in league with the Knight, whoever is on the phone (Probably Carol)...

Speaking of the Knight! There's so much eye stuff around the Knight. It's attacks look like eyes, it might have eyes (or holes?) in it's hands? Like the Titan? It looks like it's crying and has one eye/mouth thing? Some of the eyes around the puzzle look like they're crying darkness, I don't think this was accidental. And there's a ton of those eye symbols around the Titan fight and on the tower. I'm going to say that whatever eyes the Titan and the Knight have are fully blinded by Darkness. Darkness itself is also associated with Gaster, the place beyond the game [Angel's HEAVEN]. Every new dark fountain bringing us closer to the world's end.

There's a lot of emphasis placed on what you can and can't see shaping the world of deltarune as a whole.

(This is a fun piece of foreshadowing from chapter 1. I just liked it.)

Ralsie talks a lot about balance between light and dark in the prophesy from chapter one, so stab in the dark (Ha), only having one eye blinded and one eye open makes a character helpful. Heroic, even. While being fully blind leads to madness and the end of the world I guess. You've gotta be able to see both things.

The thing is I don't actually think Cas fell in love and then rebelled (as romantic as that sounds) I think in order for Cas to experience anything outside of the rigid control of Heaven he had to unravel that little thread of doubt that lingered after the last time he had to be corrected. And he just so happened to have an example of what it means to say no to fate/heaven/the way things are this time; Dean. He just so happened to have another cause to soldier for, familiar in his purpose but this time of his own free will, his choice. Dean wasn't love, Dean was an option. And idk I think it's more romantic that Dean showed Cas a way out and then Cas decided that Dean was someone he wanted to stay for.

i wanna talk about this portrayal of sally jackson and how it feels notably younger than the 2010 movie or even the musical. obviously her age is never explicitly stated there or in the books, but mama was sitting on the fire escape in the rain listening to olivia rodrigo and thinking about her ex. she's giving big 30-something millennial energy and i think that's so important in the context of HER story as a young mother alone in the world just trying her best. i think percy paints her as this angelic, caring, gentle presence that can do no wrong but the pov shift in the show lets us see her rougher edges, the places where she wasn't always perfect. and maybe im reading too far into this but if you reframe her and percy's relationship within the context of her being that young, of them reaching this quasi-gillmore girls space of "you are my baby but you're also my best friend and all i have in this world" idk it just feels a lot deeper somehow, like they're giving sally more dimension and development earlier on and i'm so excited to see her arc progress in future seasons

priest kink in the sense of a man devoting his life to a higher being because he needs to submit to something so badly and feel comforted that someone is out there to guide him, and he also wants to be useful to other lost people in his congregation even if he himself feels lost

so when someone comes along and urges him to sin, he can't stop himself because it feels even better to give up control to someone real and tangible instead of the empty prayers to a God that never answers him. even if it gets him sent to hell, someone can finally tell him exactly what to do and feel, and it feels good in every way because he's fully seen and not only forgiven, but encouraged to stop controlling himself, even though he knows it's wrong. for once, guilt and shame aren't enough to save him. he can't control his shame, and all he's ever wanted is to lose control.
