[1:32 A.M.]
You groaned, laying your head down on the metallic surface of the cash register, “Time is going by so slow. Why did I agree to work night shifts?”
Your co-worker, Gina, giggled at your mopey state. Gently patting your head, she spoke, “Lighten up. Only 28 more minutes left before you get to go home.”
The bells hanging above the main entrance jingled, signalling the arrival of new customers.
“Hello,” Gina greeted, smiling from ear to ear, “Welcome to Windy’s..”
Her voice slowly trailed off until she went completely silent. You popped your head up off the register, looking in the direction of the new customers. Your lips parted slightly, surprised by their physical appearance. You noticed the excessive amounts of tattoos and scars that spread across every visible inch of their skin. They seemed to ignore your friend, walking right past the two of you to the table in the back corner.
“Those guys..” you started, but found yourself unable to find the proper phrasing.
Luckily, Gina finished your thought, “They are a little terrifying.. I want you to go take their order.”
Your head snapped towards her, face twisted like she had said something offensive.
“Me? No way! I’m not going over there. I would like to make it home alive tonight.”
“Y/n, please,” she whined, wrapped her arms around you, trying desperately to butter you up.
“No,” you firmly responded, unlinking her arms from around you.
She pouted as the atmosphere around you two went dead silent. You both stared at the group of men, neither of you moving to go take their order. Suddenly, Gina broke the silence.
“Rock, paper, scissors for it? Loser has to go take their order?”
You reluctantly agreed, holding out your hands. Like two children, you played rock, paper, scissors. It was the only logical choice to figure out who was the unlucky soul to go take their order. As the last beat of the game slowly came to an end, your hands formed scissors. You watched as her hand stayed balled up in a fist. Rock defeats scissors.
“Yes!” Gina exclaimed in glee, doing a small victory dance.
You grumbled, picking up the notepad from the countertop. You felt Gina’s hands press against your back, giving you a slight push in the direction of the men. As you approach, you couldn’t help but to feel like a gazelle slowly being surrounded by a group of lions.
“H-Hi,” you stuttered, trying to avoid eye contact with the men in front of you, “I’m Y/n.. I’ll be your sever tonight. Can I start you off with something to drink?”
Upon hearing your voice, Taeyong’s head snapped up. He looked in your direction and observed your figure. Your timid aura made a smirk dance across his lips. Just by glancing at you, he could tell you were perfect.
Everyone went around saying what drink they wanted, everyone but Taeyong. He stayed silent, just watching you as you wrote down everyone’s order.
“Sir, do you want anything to drink?”
Your voice was like music to his hears.
“No,” he replied, shooting you a grin, “I’m fine.”
You nodded, slipping the notepad into the pocket of your apron. Then you turned on your heel, going to head in the direction to get the men their drinks. That is, until you felt a strong grip wrap around your wrist, pulling you down onto the leather seat. You were pressed up against the man you had just spoken to, his eyes boring into yours.
“What’s the rush, sweetheart? Stay and chat for a minute,” he spoke, his deep voice sending a shiver down your spine.
Not knowing what to do, you looked at you co-worker for any type of help, but she remained frozen behind the counter. You felt a gentle grip on your chin then your head turned back to face the man again.
“What’s a cute little thing like you working at a place like this, hm? You’re far too perfect to be anywhere near here, don’t you think?”
All words were caught in your throat. What were you suppose to say? You moved away from him, trying to put at least a little distance between you and this stranger.
“I’m sorry, but I really should be getting back to work,” you said, going to stand up.
You wanted nothing more than to avoid any further interactions with these people.
“Ah,” he reached his hand out, putting it on your thigh to stop your movements, “Where do think you’re going? I’m not done talking to you, beautiful.”
