Call him the boneturner the way he turns my bone
"I was all set to return to reading the thing, when I heard the sound of breaking glass behind me. I turned around to see Jared Hopworth standing in front of the shattered window. Or at least, I assume it was Jared."
MAG17: The Boneturner's Tale
i did not start all the way over. i’m on mag17 now. skipped around a little to the next one i entirely didn’t remember. i might skip back a little bit but. 17 for now
(notes on mag9 too bc i listened to it today. i love how the ambiance sounds like a heatbeat) anyways
hii elias. shout out to when i thought that most characters (well, jon and elias at least) were voiced by the same guy. i didn’t realize i was incorrect until mag80. that made my first listen of that episode confusing
im only Sort Of paying attention? regardless, my mental image of hopworth’s mom is like one of those cartoon grandmas with the shower cap . im so sorry
“i don’t know if i have it in me to destroy a book,” leitnercore
look i know it’s blood. i know the books are bleeding. but also i imagine picking up one of the books and dropping it and it just makes a SHLAP sound like it’s made of meat
what are gloves going to do against getting your arm dislocated sp(statement poster)
i feel that this part would be much more interesting if i’d read the canterbury tales. alas, i have not
OH HI JURGEN! leitner jumpscare
oh the punch and the ribs closing around the statement giver’s hand? wonderful mental image
“deeply. unhappy.” i can just SEE jon’s face
jon dropping his mask and outwardly believing leitner statements gets me every time. he doesn’t sound sincere when he says it, but he says in plain english that he believes every word of it. he even said he was ready to dismiss all of it until he heard leitner’s name—do you think he was so ready to call bullshit because it was Evil Books and he didn’t want to believe Evil Book = Leitner? does that make sense? what if he’s in denial is what im saying
@a-mag-a-day
I really want to know why Sebastian's thoughts on books changed and are Like That now.
He just never explains how that happened. He says he started thinking that way after working at Chiswick library, but he still has his job at the end of the events of the statement, so it happened after all that.
But it doesn't seem like it was because of the Leitner either, because he says he didn't look into the book any further after that... so what gives?
I mean I assume the book had a hold on him for a time what with the need to go back to the library, punching Jared, and starting to chase him... But he stopped. He didn't research the book or try to find it afterwards. He didn't even seem interested in the library it came from. So???
LITERALLY gasped when Elias interrupted the boneturners tale statement to tell Jon that Naomi complained about him and he promised to “be more lovely 🙄”
then gasped AGAIN when he said Martin was out sick that week, “blessed relief if you ask me” 😩 he’s such a melodramatic ass but omg… it’s beginning

(MAG017) ELIAS: Regardless, I would prefer that you not antagonise anyone connected to the Lukas family. They are patrons of the Institute, after all. ARCHIVIST: Fine, fine, I’ll be more lovely. Now, can I get back to work?
(Fast-forward to season 4: In A Shocking Turn Of Events, Jonathan Dumbass Sims Strongly Antagonises A Member Of The Lukas Family.)
(MAG033) ARCHIVIST: […] There’s also the fact that even a casual search of port authority records shows the Tundra is a currently active cargo ship operating for Solus Shipping PLC – a company founded and majority owned by Nathaniel Lukas. In addition to such business ventures, the Lukas family also provides funding to several academic and research organisations. Including the Magnus Institute. Much as I want to dig further into this, especially given certain parallels with case 0161301, Elias gets very twitchy when we look into anything that might conceivably have… funding repercussions.
(MAG057) ARCHIVIST: Tim was, however, able to get a list of the businesses involved in the venture. Three names stand out. Pinnacle Aerospace, majority owned by the Fairchild family; a large private investment by Nathanial Lukas; and Optics Solutions Ltd. […]. I fear, however, that’s as much digging I can do for the moment without drawing attention. So it may be wise to let the matter drop.
(MAG123) ARCHIVIST: [LONG EXHALES] Yes. Well, I’m sure there are better ways to deal with it than getting cosy with Elias’s successor. Who I’ve yet to meet, by the way. BASIRA: [CHUCKLES] Yeah, join the club. ARCHIVIST: Sorry, you haven’t– BASIRA: Nop. Never seen him. As far as I can tell, Martin’s the only one who has. ARCHIVIST: … right. A–and you’re sure he’s… real?
(MAG124) ARCHIVIST: It’s been a week […]. Still no sign of Peter Lukas of course […].
There was this string of Jon not being allowed to pry into Lukas-related cases, and he was already extremely frustrated and petty about it back in MAG033 (seriously, his tone was… gold). Even Gertrude had met him, or at least travelled on his boat with him (which doesn’t 100% guarantee that she was able to see him), according to “Michael” in MAG101.
Now, there is a Lukas In The House, and still it’s still Nop for Jon.
So to be honest, at this point, I’m half-expecting an episode to begin with Jon screaming down corridors to “sHOW YOURSELF, YOU PRICK AAAAAAAAHHHH”.
Okay this is the second time this has happened! I’ll write something about Jon’s reactions or being interrupted and in the very second I do it happens in the file I’m listening to atm. First it was in MAG022. I pause and write “Awww Martin likes spiders also he‘s anxious rambling and i‘m waiting for Jon to say „Martin. Get to the point.“ and the second I unpause and continue to listen Jon says just about that! Now in MAG024 I am editing my old rambling responses to the episodes into a format I have to send them to a second friend of mine (friend A gets the real time rambling reactions, friend B gets a nicely structured version that I’ll probably put on Tumblr as well, it’s nicely structured cause the first reaction friend B got from me was in that format and somehow it feels Right to keep doing it, like it’ll satisfy our autism. Anyway, I’m rambling.) So I’m resorting the reactions and just am at Jon’s utter deadness at being interrupted. Also him not wanting to have to play nice is such a mood. Which is a reaction to MAG017 as Jon is being interrupted by Elias. Just in the very moment I start working on it Jon gets interrupted in the file I’m listening to. MAG024 and Sasha just interrupted him. I swear if this keeps happening…
