Kanuni Sultan Süleyman Dönemi’nde İstanbul’da kenar semtlerinden birinde oturan yaşlı bir kadının evine hırsız girer. Bunun üzerine kadın, Padişah’ın huzuruna çıkar. Evinin soyulduğunu ve bu olaydan Padişah’ın sorumlu olduğunu söyler. Bunun üzerine Kanuni; “Bana bak kadın! Sen nasıl bir uyku uyudun da evinin soyulduğunu duymadın?” deyince yaşlı kadın “Padişahım kusura bakma! Biz seni uyanık bilirdik, o yüzden evimizde rahat uyurduk!” demesi üzerine Kanuni utanarak “Haklısın!” der ve kadının çalınan mallarının bedelini öder.
