Who is jikata geiko Mahori in the photo you published with maiko Mameryu dancing? Never heard of her before.

She did pop out of nowhere and was a big surprise and mystery for a while! She is retired Geiko Ichiharu, the imouto of (also retired) Ichimaru and was active quite a while ago. She debuted as a Jikata Geiko under a new name in February and is now affiliated with Tama. I can’t check for information about her in odori programmes though, because the person who collected the vast majority of them has set them to private.

Usually, Jikata Geiko also have MIsedashi, but it isn’t unusual that the debuts of older Jikata Geiko (from what I can tell from the few pictures, it’s pretty safe to say that Mahori is at least in her 40s) to be kept quiet and kind of low-profile, like with Takae of Miyagawacho or Ichisumi (Ichi Okiya) of Kamishichiken . With Ichisumi, we didn’t know for over a month that she had debuted, although I had heard rumors of a Geiko having debuted in Kamishichiken, and people only found out about Takae because she appeared in an odori programme.
