i feel like there’s been a lack of sylus content lately(both official and fanmade) just from what i’ve seen on tumblr and other social media sites, and i’ve seen so many creators quitting, so i just want to say: if you make any form of sylus content, whether that’s fanfics or art or just silly posts, know that i love and appreciate you 🫶 and if you’ve been thinking about making any content, give it a shot! you don’t have to be a literary genius to write fanfiction; if you have an idea or even if you don’t, just give it a shot. even if you don’t get many ‘likes’ or ‘kudos’, i’m sure your work is appreciated by someone. there will always be someone waiting for a new update or work to come out <3

(also just to be clear, this isn’t hate towards anyone who chooses to quit or takes a while between posting cause me too twin, if you dont enjoy it anymore or it isn’t good for you, don’t feel any obligation to keep posting!!)

(please lmk if this comes across as mean in any way, i don’t want it to be perceived that way, just trying to encourage more people to create)

Honestly, I have a lot of fun working on my comic. For almost two years, I tore myself up about it, constantly pushing myself to be "better" and "worthy of beginning this project". I didnt internalize the fact that the skills I needed were only obtainable through working on this very project. I also heard a lot of people say making a comic was uniquely challenging, a true test of discipline, and that worked to intimidate me out of starting.

The single reason I ever managed to force myself to begin was because I was tired of this. I stopped caring if my comic was good or perfect, I just focused on having fun and telling a story I hoped would matter to someone.

And in a way, I've achieved that. It matters to ME. and that's so much more than enough!

I won't lie to you and say it never frustrated me, and that there were never times in which I wondered what the hell I was doing. I spend a lot of my time on this project frustrated and confused — and I refuse to believe that's a bad thing.

We focus so much nowadays on instant gratification, and it can make long-term projects and goals feel daunting and impossible. But it's so much healthier to be willing to sit with this annoyance and finish the project anyway. It's so much more rewarding to complete a task you thought impossible. The enjoyment I get from this project is only possible because of the challenge it gives me.

So I guess what I'm saying is more people should submit themselves to long term projects. Comics are incredibly fun, and I highly recommend trying to make one if it interests you. (But you have to make it for you!! If you focus on making it about trends or fame then you fundementally miss the point)

So my pottery is by no means “good” and so I constantly struggle with whether or not I should post it and to stop allowing myself to get caught up in the concept of making productive art I just stare at images of the phrase “make bad art” until I remember that applies to me too!

But seriously, it is so hard for me to feel good about what I make and I’m really trying to remember that art is supposed to be fun.

I lack respect for creators of media who say *they don't want their characters sexualised*. Than why make it public ? If you don't want sexual media of your characters than why make it public.

I dont know if its some creators first time on the internet but you have no right to get angry when you post your characters and than get all pissy with the fandom when they make mildly lewd art of your character. ☹
