Experimenting with Game Maker Studios
Game Maker Studios is a very useful tool/software when it comes to creating a game (albeit a simple game if you’re only just starting to use it). However, if you have had a lot of experience with this software you can create amazing games (see previous blog post)!
Throughout our lesson, we had to create our own games using the basics of Game Maker. This involved making sprites and then turning them into objects so that they could have some form of interaction with each other. We also needed to have some form of scoring and lives system implemented in our game.
The final form I managed to reach with my game was not all that great. I had made it so that you could collect items and your score increases and also that you couldn’t go through walls. However, I was unable to make good use of the lives system. I made the sprites for the enemies but I had not made any coding for them so there was no way for your lives to go down, meaning there wasn’t a challenge involved with the game.
