Anyone that calls scott a bad friend for the whole donavan situation just shows me that they only watch the show for stiles and ignore everything else, all the facts, everything.

Malia Sketch!
malia tate does NOT have the mind of a child
I'm late to the discussion over this ridiculous topic in the fandom and intended on addressing this shit when the Teen Flop movie came out, because like always, the antis came out of the wood works to yell about how Malia shouldn't be with anyone because she's just a child and she is being sexualized too much. And while I agree that the scenes between her and Parrish in the movie, were frankly disturbing to see and completely unwanted, I don't believe she is being sexualized for the fun of it and she is certainly NOT a child inside. She never has been on Teen Wolf. Never.
First of all, I'll quickly address why I personally think Malia's nude scenes and/or sex scenes, or anything of that nature, don't bother me. And that is because she is a coyote, a humanised one now, in the current universe of the show, but she is still wild. And animals are instinctive, which is why they literally have a thing called "animal instinct". For years, she ran on that, she didn't have hang-ups about her body or any insecurities because she wasn't human. So why would she have hang-ups about her body as a human? She didn't develop in human society, she didn't know what being "slutty" was, she doesn't think there's anything wrong with expressing her sexuality and being nude. It's natural, it's part of nature, it's an animal thing. That's it.
Okay, now onto why Malia doesn't have the mind of a child, contrary to what people believe... she was a full grown coyote, an adult in the mental sense. They only usually live to be around 3-4 years old in the wild. She made it all the way to coyote adulthood and was probably one of the oldest coyotes in Beacon Hills. So, yes, while she started out as a child, she matured because was forced to grow up quickly, like every animal does, and survive.
Because, again, apparently people aren't aware that animals do, in fact, develop and mature as they age, they have thoughts and feelings, they have a high intelligence, just like us. They just use it for different things. So, when Malia was transformed back into a human, she did not have the mind of an 8-9 year old. Her mind aged with her because that's how animals and humans work. Coyotes don't stay the same mentally as they were when they were pups. They grow up, they mate, they breed, they have families, they kill to survive.
The reason why Malia is the way she is...
Is because she is struggling to act normal in terms of what being a human is. She originally thought about survival first. If it's life or death, she is fleeing or fighting. In the club in Mexico, she was fully prepared to flee and leave people behind, because that's what animals often do. But in the desert, the same episode, when she noticed a Berserker watching them, she didn't hesitate to transform and sprint after it, intending on killing it. Because it was instinctive to, for her own survival and arguably, at this point, for Stiles' survival as he becomes the exception to her "wild kingdom rules", as he is a part of her pack.
Malia struggles to be human, she doesn't struggle to be a teenager. She already lived an adult life as a coyote. It's not about maturity. She is actually a lot more mature than the rest of the people her age, like Stiles, Scott, Kira, Lydia etc. Her character arc is about societal human things like going to school and learning things she knows she doesn't need, it's about eating human food instead of wanting wild animals, it's about her making friends and learning to treat people with sensitivity. She is much closer to an ex-prisoner who has been locked up for a long time, than she is a child. She was in her own world, the animal kingdom, and she is being integrated back into the human world.
