I know it seems like the “natural” thing to say in these situations.... stop 🛑 yourself... think about what feelings your question may bring up. Think about a time when you were asked an uncomfortable question at an inappropriate time. What if instead of pressuring mothers to give their child, “forever friends”  or babies, or what have you, we take a moment to wonder if this is helpful to this mother, or if it really our place as a loving sister, friend, mother in law to get so involved in these decisions. What if we champion and celebrate mothers and partners making the very valid decisions for their families and instead focused our energies on how to support these families? Especially because you may not know this mother’s story or her struggle . Mamas, your decisions are yours, and valid. You may need to set boundaries with families and loved ones: 💢“You know we have decided to not have children, and would ask that you no longer bring this topic up with us . 🦋We’ve decided to have only one child. This is an informed choice and we would appreciate you honoring this decision by not bringing this topic up with us anymore . 👭Your choices are yours and valid. Sometimes they're not even choices but the end product of infertility and an entire spectrum of struggles.
