January 23rd, 2023: Congratulations to Kyoto's newest geiko! Mameju (まめ樹) of Tama (多麻) in Gion Kobu is celebrating her erikae! She is the eighth imōto of natori geiko Mamesuzu (まめ鈴), also of Tama (4th of her imōto to become geiko), and the first erikae of the year for the gokagai! Her erikae was very unique in that it was actually snowing while she was doing her rounds! Fittingly enough, her outfit features snowflakes, grass, and chrysanthemums with a poem while her obi features golden cranes ^^ おめでとうさんどすまめ樹さん ^o^! Image is courtesy of Ono No Komachi.

December 6th, 2018: Congratulations to Mameju (まめ樹) of Tama (多麻) in Gion Kobu on the occasion of her misedashi! She is the imōto of Mamesuzu (まめ鈴), also of Tama, and the 13th maiko to debut from her district in 2018! She is very petite and cute, so hopefully this will serve her well while she builds up her ozashiki skills ^^ おめでとうさんどすまめ樹ちゃん ^o^! Image courtesy of Photo Tanaka.

October 31st, 2018: One maiko’s story is coming to an end while another’s is about to begin! Mameryū (まめ柳) of Tama (多麻) in Gion Kobu on the left has switched to yakko shimada ahead of her November 21st erikae. On the right is a new Tama minarai, whose name is Mameju (まめ樹)! She will have her debut in November as well, although her onesan is currently unknown. In the middle is Tatsuha (多都葉), also of Tama, who debuted early last year and has grown into a wonderful maiko ^^ Image is courtesy of Exclusive Kyoto.

November 2nd, 2018: You saw her from behind a few days ago, so now you can get a look at the face in front of the obi! Meet minarai Mameju (まめ樹) of Tama (多麻) in Gion Kobu! She has a very distinct face and is adorably cute! Her kanzashi features rounded butterflies and chrysanthemums, which is typical of Gion Kobu minarai kanzashi; unlike other districts, they use a special kanzashi with all season motifs instead of the usual monthly kanzashi. Mameju will switch to the regular monthly kanzashi following her misedashi at the end of the month ^^ Image courtesy of Exclusive Kyoto.

ธันวาคม 2561: ทรงผมญี่ปุ่นโบราณแบบ Wareshinobu ของไมโกะ Mameju (โอกิยะ Tama) จากเขต Gion Kobu ในจังหวัด Kyoto ระหว่างพิธีการแสดงตัวครั้งแรก

ทรงผมญี่ปุ่นโบราณแบบ Wareshinobu ( 割れしのぶ ) เป็นทรงผมสำหรับไมโกะอายุน้อย คือช่วง 2-3 ปีแรกของการเป็นไมโกะ มีมวยผมทรงกลมแบ่งเป็นสองซีกและคั่นด้วยผ้า Kanoko (鹿の子) สีแดง มีเครื่องประดับตรงกลางมวยผมที่เรียกว่า Kanoko Dome (鹿の子留) ผมทรงนี้ยังใช้ในพิธีการแสดงตัวครั้งแรก (Misedashi) คู่กับเครื่องประดับที่ใช้เฉพาะในโอกาสพิเศษ เช่น ปิ่นที่ทำมาจากกระ ปิ่นทรงพัดคู่ เป็นต้น

ธันวาคม 2561: ไมโกะ Mameju (โอกิยะ Tama) จากเขต Gion Kobu ในจังหวัด Kyoto ระหว่างพิธีการแสดงตัวครั้งแรกของเธอ

พิธีการแสดงตัวครั้งแรก (店だし : Misedashi) เป็นพิธีที่ Shikomi (ไมโกะฝึกหัด) ได้เลื่อนขั้นขึ้นเป็นไมโกะเต็มตัว ถือเป็นการเริ่มต้นการเป็นเกอิชาอย่างเป็นทางการในเกียวโต หลังเสร็จสิ้นพิธี ไมโกะจะต้องออกไปเดินบนถนนด้านนอกกับ Otokoshi-san (ผู้เชี่ยวชาญด้านการสวมใส่กิโมโน) เพื่อแนะนำตนเองและขอบคุณอาจารย์และผู้ดูแลโอกิยะต่างๆ ซึ่งหญิงสาวที่จะเป็นไมโกะและเข้าพิธีแสดงตัวครั้งแรกได้นั้นมักมีอายุเพียง 15 ปี
