mandarin comprehensible input update 0/30+

ok so i’m starting up mandarin!!! i think maybe for real!!!!

this is the first language i have absolutely no prior knowledge of before starting 100% comprehensible input. (i had previous study in french, spanish, and italian, & had checked out several apps/websites for korean.)

i know that mandarin has characters, and i know that it’s a tonal language (tho not sure what that means). no further info about grammar/vocab, and very little prior chinese media experience. tho shout out to one of my favorite scifi authors liu cixin! can't wait to read your stuff in the original!!

i’m very excited!!!!! the plan is to just follow some playlists from channels found on the comprehensible input wiki. from there, native media. after that, crosstalk, learning to read. after that.... the world!!

saturday 2nd july | mandarin HSK6 notes

i haven’t posted language notes here in a really really long time! here are some recent mandarin notes i’ve been working on. i’m behind on my notes bec i kinda put mandarin learning aside for a while - was busy with uni applications and exam revision. but now i can actually focus on the HSK6 qualification over summer!

my plan is to either take the HSK6 exam this summer, or take it in winter if i don’t feel prepared enough. HSK6 is a challenge, so i need to put the work in :<

Still reading 小王子 (The Little Price)! 

I decided to highlight every single character/word I didn’t know the pinyin for in chapter 6. It took a while (even though it was only 2 pages) but I completed the whole chapter. The picture was taken before I completed it. Now, the whole page is filled with highlights and pinyin haha :)

○once I got home I worked for my biology test of tomorrow anyway let's stop talking about school^^

today was such a pretty day,it was all sunny it felt really good to work my chinese in those conditions!Like usually I did a pinyin lesson and wrote down some vocabulary I forgot to wrote from the previous lessons

○I really need to learn it and to read more the lessons I already done

○I'm happy that now I feel more familliar with tones wich was completely new to me and that I can anticipate how to pronounce the pinyin now~

○And I tries to keep the color sheme I used on my business notes when I took my chinese notes or at least to nake them match😁

Hey studyblr and langblr!

I made this account a little while ago but I’d like to use it more, so I thought I would make an introduction post~

𝒜𝒷𝑜𝓊𝓉 𝑀𝑒

My name is Ashley and I’m a 19-year-old student in Canada! I’m currently in university studying an English major and a Criminal Justice minor. I’d love to teach overseas (preferably Korea or China) for a little bit after university, and I would also like to go to law school. Two massively different dreams but I’m going to work hard!

On the side, I’m learning Korean, Simplified Mandarin, and studying up on my French (I’m slightly fluent). Later on, once I’m at least conversational (probably), I’d like to learn Japanese. I know other languages will eventually make their way onto my list!

𝒲𝒽𝒶𝓉 𝐼'𝓁𝓁 𝒫𝑜𝓈𝓉

I’m listing myself as both a studyblr and a langblr because I’ll probably post about both my schoolwork (especially the crime side, but lit will make its way in) and my language progress. Currently I’m focusing on Korean and Mandarin, so those will be the most prominent posts! I may occasionally post art, but I’m thinking of creating a sideblog for that.

𝐼𝓃𝓈𝓅𝒾𝓇𝒶𝓉𝒾𝑜𝓃𝓈 𝒶𝓃𝒹 𝒢𝑜𝒶𝓁𝓈

My biggest inspiration language-wise is definitely @rinkodesu and her amazing YouTube! However, as basic as it may sound, I was introduced to k-pop with the group ‘Seventeen’ in December of 2017 and it really opened my eyes to the rest of the world. SVT is truly a life-changer for me and constantly inspires me to work hard, and has affected me on a personal level and inspired me to change bad things. From there I began studying Korean, and though I’m slow, it only takes them to rekindle my love for learning it! (wow stop ranting)

My goals are really to improve my life and skills, and by Lindie’s advice, I want to document it. I’m not really sure how yet so please be patient!
