Remus- Duh. Did you just figure that out?
Remus- Manipulation is Janus's whole thing.
Remus- He's been messing with our heads since we were kids.
Virgil- How could you possibly be okay with that?

You know, what if remus and janus were good friends, but then remus found out janus was being abusive to his brother. And now he hates janus and when they see eachother he either chases him with intent to harm or gives him the silent treatment for what he did. Now all the other dark sides hate janus (I headcanon that orange hates him too). Imagine what remus would do if he hated someone though? We don't know and it scares me. My best bet is that he'd try to murder you or something lol
YES
I am absolutely a sucker for the creativitwins bonding.
So like,,some how Remus finds out about Janus being a manipulative bitch, and is mad. He doesn’t have the full story so he sneaks over to check on Roman. And Roman is not doing well, So Remus is even *more* mad at Janus. (not just for the whole Roman thing, he also feels like Janus is abandoning him because Janus is accepted now, so he’s deciding to spend more time with the light sides.)
Roman somehow finds out that Remus is giving Janus the silent treatment/chasing Janus down and is like, huh, that’s weird. And he confronts remus about it.
Some ~bonding~ ensues and they kinda start to repair their relationship. janus hates this, he also hates being attacked from behind by Remus’s weapons and/or hands and teeth.
(by extension Remus and Virgil repair their relationship and now we get the Janus Hate Club trio)
creativitwins anon Roman has a wall and any insult the sides have heard go on that wall janus finds out takes advantage of the fact that none of the others can see it and keeps insulting roman slyly so people wouldn't notice even if he does it right in front of them Roman is confused if they are insults or not he checks the wall and they all were he even thought some of them were compliments janus finds him crying and says "Nobody loves the hero Roman You should know better" add on if u want to!
OH ok YES i love that wall thing
He obviously doesn’t tell anyone about it, cause like, it’s not healthy and he *knows* it, but he’s great at self-destructive tendencies so he keeps it. He adds onto it whenever Thomas or the sides hear an insult.
Janus finds out because Roman jokes about having a “wall of compliments” and Janus can tell that it’s a flat out lie. So he starts to ‘compliment’ him in really round-about ways that are really just insults. Roman’s,,,not great,,,at telling the difference between a genuine compliment and a fake one, but he does eventually catch on that Janus is insulting him.
He starts to doubt that *any* compliments are real, and whenever anyone makes a comment about the sides or Thomas, he adds it to the wall. He gets super defensive about any comments and tries to isolate Thomas because “everyone hates you!” and the light sides start kinda avoiding him.
So ~thats~ when Janus finds him mid-breakdown and basicially tells him he’s unlovable! (:. Roman’s just like “yeah i know” and Janus leaves.
(look,,,Remus knows about the wall too. Roman’s kept it since before he and Remus got distanced and was really bad at hiding it.)
creativitwins are fucking decent humans to each other in this au. after janus got accepted, he kept being manipulative to roman behind closed doors. to everyone else it seemed like he was trying to make amends because he would be nice and do things for virgil and logan and roman, but he would always be really fucking horrid to roman when they were alone. he tried telling patton and thomas but they didn't believe him 1/
OH yes! I love familial creativitwins~
I’m in class rn so i’ll add on later
Janus being accepted and rubbing it on virgil's face like "it was so hard for them to accept you because you're much more difficult to like than me and they still don't fully trust you" and virgil believing it and feeling awful because he tried to warn the others about janus being manipulative and they won't listen to him (janus has them convinced he's good)
Oh yes, I love this
Janus goes to Roman after the end of POF.
Janus was expecting to see Patton and Roman hugging it out or something, but Roman is just sitting on his bed. Alone. Crying.
Now, Janus has two options, he can comfort Roman, or he can make it worse. Comforting Roman would make sure that he got Roman to trust him again, but making it worse made sure that Roman wouldn’t try anything to hurt Janus.
So maybe, he sits next to Roman, slowly. Maybe, he grabs Roman by the side of the head and brings the Prince’s ear closer to him. And maybe, just maybe, he whispers a threat, a promise to make Thomas never want to talk to Roman again. A promise to hurt Roman’s friends. Just small things, but to Roman they mean everything. Everything is on the line for Roman now.
Roman nods. Janus leaves.
The next day, Roman pretends everything has been cleared up between the two.
I LITERALLY CANT I JUST SAW SOMEONE ON INSTAGRAM SAY THAT JANUS MANIPULATING ROMAN WAS BECAUSE ROMAN IS MORE GULLIBLE THAN THE OTHER SIDES AS IF THATS AN EXCUSE AND THEN HAVE THE AUDACITY TO CALL ROMAN A CHILD FOR BEING INSECURE IM
The AUDACITY
I saw that you in one of your posts said that Janus has canonically gaslit and guilt tripped Roman, and I'm not doubting it to be true (Roman has suffered A LOT, especially in the hands of Janus), but when did the gaslighting and guilt tripping happen? I don't remember, lol.
For the gaslighting i’m specifically thinking about the “wroammin” thing (where janus asked Roman how to spell his name) because gaslighting is “ manipulating (someone) by psychological means into questioning their own sanity.” and yeah, telling someone that they don’t know how to spell their own name is definitely gaslighting. I’d also,,,maybe? Say that making Roman doubt his entire existence and purpose by forcing him to see that ‘hey, maybe everything isn’t black and white’ during a high stress situation in which he was already struggling to understand anything and ending up with him thinking that he’s been lied to his entire life is gaslighting. But that’s just my opinion.
Guilt tripping,,,after the flattery stopped working, basically all of the sides competed to guilt trip Roman to most into agreeing with their side (yes, patton and virgil are also at fault for this) by playing the ‘protect thomas card’ (i might be remembering svs, but i feel like there was a lot of ‘but Roman you NEED to protect thomas. This is the right thing.’ on both sides)
Ok sorry that got ranty and sounded rude i just,,,do not like Janus lol
