#maple cookies

This week starts off with maple cookies. I went with Manning's Cookie Shop maple leaf creme cookies for these.

These are crunchy with some softness from the cream. These are basically Oreos if they were maple syrup flavored instead of chocolate. Like oreos, these are great for dunking. These are good, but I think I enjoy maple syrup flavor on something more than by itself.

Somehow 2 batches of cookies and a cranberry gingerbread upside-down cake (isn't it pretty??) took 4 hours from start to clean up. Granted I was only supposed to make one batch of cookies but I didn't have enough almond paste for a full batch of almond cookies (not pictured) so made 2 types of cookies instead of just one to make up for it. The one pictured is a brown butter maple with glaze! I'm taking some ibuprofen and going to bed so I can get up and finish the other 2 dishes tomorrow (later) 😴

No gonna lie, this is the first time I’ve ever pulled this card.

She’s telling me I need to hone my craft, and to just go with the flow of things.

Which really hits hard but came at be right time, because I was just let go from my job. So maybe I need to return to my writing adventure and really buckle down.

Toasted Pecan Maple Cookies 🍁🍪🐻

Fresh roasted pecans, lots of Canadian maple syrup and even maple frosting drizzle. Quite proud of myself. 😊🐻
