There is actually a version of Bruce that is Chinese! Or at least “Wasian” it’s Gotham High Bruce!

In this universe his mother is “Ma-Sha Dean” who then changes her name to “Martha Wayne” when she gets married and moves to America

Catwoman (2018) #84 ~ released today (spoilers)

The scene where Selina buries the pearls was one of my favorites out of the entire issue because it resembles her heart. Over the years Selina has cared for multiple hurt women, but the first she loved was her mother. She loves so deeply and strongly, it’s beautiful. However, Selina’s situation has demanded her to close herself, and so she isn’t true to herself all the time. The streets roughened her up, as they’d roughen anyone. She hides her true feelings, she doesn’t allow herself to feel them.

We see this in Her Sister’s Keeper when Maggie has to force Selina to sit with her anger and her sorrow for Holly, to truly feel it. So long has she spent struggling to survive, her own heart on the back burner. The pearls symbolize Selina’s glittering heart, buried deep—and it’s important to note that she buries them with her mother, the first broken woman she’s ever loved and cared for. There’s so much symbolism in this scene, it felt very mature and heartfelt. I also adore the detail that Selina goes to her mother first before finally returning home. Still, “What is a pilgrimage without a few blisters?”

This issue hammers in the fact that we’re going back to her roots, “I don’t know what I was hoping to find here. Maybe a trace of me.” This is also shown with the flashback to Holly, reestablishing her trauma on the streets and Holly’s struggles with substance abuse. I like how we went back to the very beginning, with Maria.
