I stopped listening to protocol for months because my husband was just starting it, and I wanted him to catch up so we could listen together. So of course I also avoided tumblr because spoilers.

Last night we finally, finally caught up.

I opened my phone this morning, hoping to go check the tags and read all the theories I missed out on. And they just. Dropped the season two premiere on patreon. And my husband asked me to wait until we have a chance to listen to it together.

So now I still can't interact with the fandom in any way. I love this man. I really do. But I am suffering here.

I was laying on the couch and staring at the ceiling when my husband woke up, so he asked, "You ok?"

I told him I just finished the new episode. He nodded and said, "Carry on, then," and went to another room.

He gets me.

I've never understood Michael and Helen's attitude toward their own identity more than when my husband hit MAG 101 and I had to explain it.

Husband: "So Michael is dead, right?"

Me: "Well, I think Michael Shelley has been dead for a long time. But the Distortion wasn't Michael. Or it was, but also not."

Husband: "Yeah, I got that original Michael was dead. But is Distortion Michael dead?"

Me: "No. The Distortion is Helen now. Except not really."

Husband: "But Michael wanted to kill Jon and Helen doesn't."

Me: "But they're still both the Distortion. The Distortion just stopped being Michael because Helen made it her instead."

Husband: "Ok, fuck everything about the Spiral."

Mark told me he likes Melanie even though angry characters usually annoy him. She's an exception. Clearly I married a man with good taste.

Listening to my husband, who is on s2 of TMA and already heavily relating to Martin, talk about how staying home alone too long can create "a sort of reverse cabin fever where you get comfortable with the isolation, so you don't want to leave or talk to anybody no matter how badly you know you need to."

The Lonely arc is going to be an interesting time in this house.

In unrelated news, I'm just going to hold him for a bit when I have the chance. Not for any particular reason.

My husband is already talking about cute domestic headcanons for Jon and Martin post-canon. He's in season 2. I'm going to be in so much trouble when he hears how it ends and he realizes how many chances I had to warn him.

Maybe he can join me in the land of denial and Somewhere Else AUs.

I was joking with Mark about how much I hate jmart as a ship name, so he decided our new ship name for ourselves should be jmark.
