Daredevil was released on February 14, 2003. Ben Affleck became the second actor to play a live action version of Daredevil (the first being Rex Smith in the TV movie Trial of the Incredible Hulk) and the first to play him in a theatrical version. The same with Michael Clarke Duncan as the Kingpin (with John Rhys-Davies in the TV movie). It is claimed Foggy Nelson was in Trial of the Incredible Hulk, but it was in a non-credited and non-speaking role, so the first live action appearance of the character is given to Jon Favreau in this film. The movie also marked the first live action appearances of Bullseye (Colin Farrell), Karen Page (Ellen Pompeo), Ben Urich (Joe Pantoliano), Jack Murdock (David Keith), Nikolas Natchios (Erick Avari) and Elektra Natchios (Jennifer Gardner). Jennifer Gardner would go on to play the character in a stand alone Elektra movie (2005) and Deadpool and Wolverine (2024). Stan Lee's cameo was as a man young Matt (Scott Terra) kept from walking into the road. (Stan Lee started the Marvel movie cameo tradition with The Trial of the Incredible Hulk as a member in the jury). The movie's soundtrack was Marvel Comic's first collaboration with Wind-Up Records who they would also would work with on the soundtracks for The Punisher, Fantastic Four, and Elektra. Evanescence got a lot of air play from their singles "Bring Me to Life" and "My Immortal" with "Bring Me to Life" winning a Grammy for Best Hard Rock Performance and Billboard Music Award for Soundtrack Single for the Year. The film's score was composed by Graeme Revell. Daredevil writers Frank Miller and Kevin Smith had cameos in the movie. A rapist who was killed by Daredevil early in the movie Jose Quesada was named after Daredevil artist and former Marvel Editor-in-Chief Joe Quesada. The movie was heavily cut to recieve a PG-13 rating which cut much of the sub-plot that involved a court room drama that lead Matt to uncover what the Kingpin was up to. Due to the poor performance of the movie and Elektra, and Affleck not wanting to come back for the role, Fox lapsed on the rights to the character. Once Disney got the rights back, they relaunched Daredevil as a TV show on Netflex. ("Daredevil", Marvel Movie Event)
Daredevil allowed Colin Farrell to use his IRISH ACCENT on film for the FIRST TIME! 🇮🇪

Director - Mark Steven Johnson, Cinematography - Ericson Core
"Violence doesn't discriminate. It hits all of us... the rich, the poor, the healthy, the sick. It comes as cold and bracing as a winter breeze off the Hudson. Until it sinks into your bones... leaving you with a chill you can't shake. They say there's not rest for the wicked. But what about the good? The battle of Good vs. Evil is never-ending... because evil always survives... with the help of evil men. As for Daredevil, well... soon the world will know the truth. That this is a city born of heroes, that one man CAN make a difference."

"The last time I let a stranger help me out, it didn't turn out so good."
