Back to the Beginning: How Endgame Rewrote the MCU and Made Avengers Family Canon
Spoilers beyond this point - Read at your own peril.
In the original timeline, after the Battle of New York, everyone went their separate ways until they would be needed again.
Except now, no one can leave!
Tony and Steve 100% threw the 2012 timeline off-course. Which is fantastic because the way they did it will bring the 2012 Avengers closer together.
Loki escaped, meaning there will be a man hunt requiring all of them. The Tower may be trashed, but I see road trips, hotels, and Tony's vacation homes along the way to Loki's recapture. At least until Tony can rebuild and set up a home base in Avengers Tower.
Even if 2023 Steve returns the Infinity Stones to exactly the place in time they were taken, 2023 Tony, Steve, and even Banner made ripples which will likely drive the 2012 Avengers closer.
Steve Rogers fought himself. 2012 Steve may have thought it was Loki at first, but 2023 Steve fights too well to be the god of mischief and that collision of shields was vibranium on vibranium.
Nick Fury will 100% be viewing ALL of the footage and will see all the 2023 Avengers. And it will be very clear that Loki's escape is small potatoes by comparison.
2023 Steve Rogers tricked Hydra into thinking 2012 Steve is Hydra! Which means they will either slip up and spill the beans to 2012 Steve or think 2012 Steve knows they are Hydra but realize he isn't on their side and play their hand much earlier than 2014--before they can create those helicarriers or get their hands on Stark or Chitauri tech.
2012 Steve knows Bucky is alive, or will at the very least be questioning whether he's really dead. Again, this will likely speed up the Hydra reveal. And also the reveal of Howard and Maria Stark's murder, possibly changing the events of Civil War.
I could go on, but honestly the possibilities are endless! Does Sokovia even happen? Does Ultron? But the most important takeaway is that the Avengers won't have peaced out in 2012, going off to fight their own battles. They'll be united in their hunt to find Loki and deal with the fallout of these ripples in the timeline. So the discovery of Hydra, Fall of Shield, the Mandarin, the Dark Elves--maybe they finally will do it together.
Part of the journey is the end, but Endgame also brought us back to the beginning.
There's Marvel 616, Ultimates, Marvel 1872, Marvel Noir.
Welcome to Marvel 2012.
