April 2019: Maiko Hidekano (Masamiya Okiya) of Pontocho performing during the Heian Jingu Reitaisai Hōno Buyō Matsuri.
Pontocho always sends two Maiko to perform at this event; this year, they sent Hidekano and Ichiai (Masunoya Okiya).

September 2018: Minarai Hidemai (Masamiya Okiya) of Pontocho showing off a late summer ensembles. Since Masamiya hasn’t been active as an okiya for decades, we’ll get to see an entire new wardrobe of kimono and obi from them!
Minarai in Pontocho wear a Minarai hikizuri, which has shorter sleeves than a regular hikizuri, and a handara obi, which is only half as long as a darari obi, for the first part of their Minarai stage, but will switch to the normal Maiko hikizuri and darari obi after a while.
Hidemai will have her Misedashi on the 3rd of October!

การแต่งหน้าของไมโกะจากเขต Pontocho จะแตกต่างจากไมโกะจากอีก 4 เขตเกอิชาที่เหลือในเกียวโตเล็กน้อย กล่าวคือการทาปากของไมโกะรุ่นน้องที่เพิ่งเริ่มงานปีแรก โดยทั่วไปแล้วจะได้รับอนุญาตให้ทาได้เฉพาะริมฝีปากล่าง แต่ไมโกะจากเขต Pontocho สามารถทาทั้งริมฝีปากบนและล่างได้เลยตั้งแต่ปีแรกของการเป็นไมโกะ
