Day 11: Favorite Splinter

Yeah I know. I was a day late. I got stuck between how to pose him, how tall he’d be if he was a different species of rat altogether (there’s a little rant in my Tumblr), and then had to figure out his colors. (His colors are the combination of the 03 show, my AU, and the Fortnite design. The show and game colors however are barely there, but it definitely makes a difference.)

So, here is my favorite rat dad. He’s basically 2003 Splinter but how I picture him in my AU. He’s kinda darker than the original look he had in my AU and I think I like it. It might actually stick this time!

This. This is what I live for. Also, sorry for taking so long- I’m getting through a mindset where my brain is a literal mushroom on Mars.

Extra Info: I’m including some headcanons for Splinter being a grandpa. I’m not sure if that’s what you meant by papa, but that’s what I’m doing.

Leo:

He has a daughter, no doubt

I feel like he loves the name Yua (結愛)

(it’s a Japanese name meaning “Binging Love and Affection”)

He would want to teach her Ninjutsu, but would be incredibly nervous

Definitely lets her teeth on his hands/arms/plastron when that time comes

Has nearly dropped her at least twice without you knowing

A little bit overprotective- but he means well by it, of course

But you’d have to be the “Bad Cop” more often than not

He cannot bring himself to be stern with Yua, especially when she gives him that look

“Y/n, look at her! I can’t do that to her!”

But, he will be stern…

Raph:

Actually the softest dad out of the four

Also has a daughter, which he names Sakura (咲良) 

(It’s a Japanese name meaning “Cherry Blossoms”)

Definitely the Good Cop 100% of the time

Cannot be stern with her… At all

Zip, nada, none.

She literally rules him- whatever she wants, she gets

“What do you mean she can’t have ice cream for breakfast, Y/n? It’s the birthday of her favorite stuffie!”

Is more than excited when she asks to work out with him

When she’s old enough, he also teaches her ninjutsu

(she’s damn good at hand-to-hand combat, too)

Through all the chaos of being a parent, he loves every second

And honestly?

You love watching him tuck her in at night.

He always sings to her- ever so softly

And it’s always the song that he sang to you on your first date.

Which makes it that much more meaningful

Donnie:

He has a daughter as well

He names her Ichika (一千花)

(also a Japanese name, meaning “One Thousand Flowers”)

He is first to notice she’s having trouble hearing

So he makes Ichika her own little hearing aids

The change is immediate

As Ichika grows, Donnie is so glad she didn’t follow his eating pattern

(he barely eats, especially when he’s working in his lab)

He is the brother who is most cautious about teaching his child ninjutsu

She’s built so much like him- tall and lanky, and limbs like a stick- he’s terrified she’ll snap

He can heal her, of course, but the fear still nags at him

Nonetheless, he still teaches her.

He starts slowly, but- like him- Ichika absorbs the new information really quickly

And she pleads that he teach her faster

(he cannot deny That Look)

So, within a few years, she reaches his level

Spars between them are so smooth and calculated

You end up becoming a mother to both of them, really, because they will often forget to take breaks, hydrate, and eat

Mikey:

He’s the only one who has a son

He’s also the only one who went with an Italian Renaissance name

He names his son Tiziano, after the Venetian painter during the Renaissance

(Tiziano was actually considered the most important member of the 16th-century Venetian school. The More You Know.)

Tiziano is nicknamed “Zano”

Zano actually takes after you more than he does after Mikey

He’s much more cautious and half as reckless. 

He’s the only turtle kid who doesn’t want to train in ninjutsu

(Mikey would never admit this, but he is a tad disappointed he won’t bond with Zano over it like how he bonded with his brothers)

Nonetheless, you & Mikey don’t force Zano into training.

But

He and Mikey bond over the fact that they both have an obsession with music

Especially rock/pop-rock from the 70s/80s/90s (for some reason that you don’t fully understand)

Their favorites are Fleetwood Mac, Bon Jovi, and Queen

For one birthday, Zano surprises Mikey with a record player and some Vinyl discs of each of those artists

They spend the rest of the week listening to those records on repeat and you couldn’t be prouder of your boy.

Both of them

Splinter:

He definitely spoils his grandchildren

He would do anything and everything for them

Sakura was the first grandchild he began to train after Raph taught her the basics

Sakura was the first one to want to train, but Ichika did follow not long after.

Sakura and Ichika were excellent spars for each other. Ichika was calculated, yes, but Sakura fought more on instinct

(Much like their fathers, Splinter thinks. He would never tell their sons this)

Once Leo decides to have Yua start her training, he gets Splinter’s help to teach her the basics

Leo doesn’t want to mess up, since he has a terrible fear of that (which he never admits)

Yua turns out to be the most brutal fighter of the three granddaughters

(Much to Splinter’s surprise and Leo’s concern)

The three girls often spend more time together than they do apart, and a fair amount of that time is with Splinter in the dojo

When Splinter isn’t with his granddaughters, he is trying to form a relationship with his grandson

It’s rather hard

Zano wants to impress Splinter, but since he doesn’t want to train like his cousins, he puts way too much pressure on himself

Zano tries many different things that he thinks may impress Splinter

Most of those ideas never make it off the cutting room floor because he just doesn’t think Splinter will like them

When Zano gets Mikey that record player and vinyl discs, it is Splinter who realizes how he can connect to his grandson

One day, Splinter brings Zano to his part of the Lair.

Splinter, knowing Zano’s love of music, shows his grandson his CD and record collection

They find artists they both like and listen to the CDs/records

Once, Zano approaches Splinter’s room

Splinter is listening to his music and doing Katas to keep his body moving

Zano is immediately entranced and begs Splinter to teach him some Katas

Splinter doesn’t hesitate

Even though it’s the closest to ninjutsu as Zano is willing to get, Splinter is more than proud of his grandson

Drawing Splinter for today’s TMayNT prompt and all I can think about now is how massive rat dad could be if he were a different species of rat altogether.

Here I’m thinking canonically he’s a normal rat, like he started out as a normal rat in 03 which at most a rat is about 9 to 11 inches long including the tail and then he just mutates and turns into a 4 foot 10 inch rat person. I’m 5 foot 1 (or 2, don’t really know. I just know I’m around my mother’s height) so that’s kinda terrifying because I’m looking straight at him already. Just imagine him being a giant rodent and then he gets bigger than that.

I’m thinking of him possibly being a Gambian pouched rat. You know those HeroRats aka rats trained to sniff out landmines and rescue people from rubble?

Those things are about three feet long, (or 0.9 meters if you’re outside of the US).

Have Splinter be one of those, mutate to be an anthro rat, then let’s see how big he is then. I don’t know how tall he is, let alone how much weight he’d have.

I need someone to calculate this.

I said I was good at math but apparently I’m a liar and I can’t convert that for two shells.

Anyways, I’ll just leave that there. I’ve got Rat dad to finish drawing and if I ever make my own iteration (which I doubt will happen anytime soon since I got a TMNG fic and a Ninjago fic to work on), then I’ll figure out Splinter’s sizing and looks then.

My Thoughts: Bayverse

Prompt: Just some thoughts that I have about the boys in the Bayverse movies

Warnings: None.

Incarnation: Bayverse (obviously)

Extra Info: Most of the info comes from the Paramount TMNT Fandom website (link here). I also put in some headcanons (Ex. Splinter let the turtles choose their own birthdays; Each brother represents a different season).

Leo: (link here)

He chose February 1st for his birthday, mostly because he just loves February, but also because he didn’t think about it as much as his brothers did

He represents Spring the most. It’s the start of new life, buds bloom, animals awaken and the earth seems to come alive the most during it.

He also loves the length of the days this season, as well as the flowers blooming in Central Park

Paramount says he is 6’2. No. He is closer to 6’7 because he is at least 1-2 inches shorter than Donnie, not 6 inches shorter

There is no way he is only 285 lbs. He’s muscular, yes, but not nearly as much as Raph, but also quite fit/slim. That being said, he’s likely 355 lbs, around Donnie’s weight

He chose February 28th for his birthday for the pure reason he wanted to remind Leo he was the second oldest without making it too obvious.

He represents Fall/Autumn the most. It’s a time for personal and environmental transformations. It’s a season that is perfect to reflect and embrace change.

His want for change is the largest among his brother, despite what he says, which is why he is fall/autumn

Paramount says he is 6’5, which I close to how I see him. I see him as being 6’7.5” since he is in between Leo and Donnie’s heights

He is not 340 lbs with his shell, whoever thought that can perish. Have you seen his muscles? He is closer to 380-400 lbs and is the heaviest of his brothers purely because of muscle mass

He chose May 17th because May is always when spring is in full swing, and the start of summer is right around the corner

He represents Winter the most. He loves the holidays that come with it because it’s the perfect time (other than birthdays) to give his newest gadgets to his family with them questioning the reason

He loves the peace that comes when snow falls over the city

Paramount says he is 6’8, and I stan.

He is said to be 270 lbs including his shell. Just… No. He is probably 340-360 lbs since he’s tall, but not too muscular like his brothers are

He chose August 24th, mostly because it’s his second favorite month (the first is April). But, he also really likes the end of summer where the days are the hottest and the nights are the coolest

He represents Summer most of all seasons. It’s often a symbol for youth and innocence, both of which he is the definition of.

It’s his favorite since the sun is the brightest and the days are always warm/hot.

Paramount says he’s 6’1, which- like Raph- is close to how I see him. I see him as closer to 6’3-6’4 since he’s a bit shorter than Leo by a solid few inches

He is said to be 215 lbs including his shell. Hell to the naw. He is likely 350 solid since he’s the shortest, but also bulky with a bit of muscle.

Splinter also chose his own birthday. He chose April 4th.

He never told anyone that he chose it for 2 specific reasons.

(1- to honor April; 2- April is the fourth month, and he chose the fourth day all because he has 4 sons)

I don’t really place him with a season, but I feel like he’d be soft rain- you know, the pleasant kind that comes after a dry spell. It is soft, wanted, and it sounds pretty

Paramount doesn’t give him an exact height, but he reaches about Leo’s pecs and isn’t much taller than April. It is canon that April is 5’4, and based on my analysis of Leo, he appears to be 5’8-5’11.

He also doesn’t have a specific weight. I think he is heavier than April, but not nearly as heavy as the turtles

What I did is I looked up Megan Fox’s current weight (104 lbs). The being said, I think he could be around 200-210 lbs

All:

Though it is canon that the brothers are 15 in the first film and 17 in the second, NO.

In my mind, they have to be 17 in the first and 19 or so in the second

This is due to several factors, but the main two that come up are their size and how they talk

They literally look like grown men who are built like the Rock instead of teens- even teens who work out/play football. Also, they talk more like very young adults instead of mid-teenagers.

I like to think that Klunk isn't the only cat Mikey's had. I feel like he's taken in a lot of cats, and Klunk was the one that really stayed with them at home. The others visit, but have their own places here or there.

Still trying to figure out how I want to draw good ol' Splinter.
