Vision blurry, you try the sleep out of your eyes as you slide you slippers on. It wasn't an unusual occasion for your apartment complex to perform random fire drills but not once have they ever occurred during the night. First time for everything, you know.
Swinging the front door open, you don't pay attention as you walk into the hall, probably like you should be when there is blaring sirens echoing in the hallway, running into something hard. Looking up, you roll your eyes at the Cheshire cat like grin spreads on Fred's face.
The two of you became unlikely friends once he moved into the apartment next to yours. What started as tense greetings turned into a deep friendship and plenty of nights spent in the other's apartment.
“What now? Is this you, Weasley?” You ask, yawning halfway through. Fred simply chuckles, giving you a once over, you following his gaze. There was nothing wrong with what you were wearing. A simple black shirt paired with a pair of black and white plaid pj's pants.
“Hey twin.” Fred says, ignoring your previous question. Closing your door, the corners of your mouth turns down as you scan over Fred, searching for any signs of injuries. “Is the fire in your room?”
Directing you to the stairs with an amused chuckle, Fred shakes his head. “No. Do you really have so little faith in me?” You shake your head, pausing on the stairs. Fred stops, turning so he at eye level with you. “Of course not but you seem to have me confused with your twin brother. One I look absolutely nothing alike mind you.” Fred laughs, a startled one as if he couldn't believe what he was hearing. His long slender fingers run through his copper hair that he recently started to grow out. “That's not-” “Hey! Get out of there! Ms Williams finally did it! Her flat is on fire.”
Sharing a look, the two of you race down the stairs, nervous giggles bounce off the concrete walls as Fred trails behind you. By the time, you were safe, the two of you have already placed bets on the cause of the fire.
You thought it was a forgotten candle. Everyone in the complex knew how much Ms Williams loved her candles. Fred suggested she tried cooking again. That one caused you to laugh. Simply because you knew how terrible of a cook she was.
A cool breeze sends a shiver down your spine, goosebumps covering your arms. Shifting in your place on the sidewalk, you step to the closest heat source, Fred.
Looking down, your eyes widen at the sight of matching PJ pants. Your eyes slowly roll up his body, lips parting at the sight of the same shirt you went to bed in. Fred's words echo in your head. “Oooh.”
Fred chuckles, noticing the light bulb has gone off in your mind. He wraps an arm around your shoulder. “Finally got it, didn't you? Smart girl.”
Your cheeks heat up as you hide into his shirt, rumbling of his chest sending a flutter straight to your heart. You laugh breathlessly. “Nice pj's Freddie.”
The firefighters give the all clear and allowed us to all return back to apartments. You and Fred hang in the back, not wanting to deal with the crowd. “Wanna come up to mine and watch a movie?” You hum, bumping your shoulder against his arm. “Depends. Do you have my snacks stocked up?” Fred scoffs, shoving you into the door. “Who do you think I am? Of course I have your snacks.”
