I can't remember if anyone has asked this yet, but how do you feel about Magthan (Mag and Nathan)? And do you have any headcanons for them?
My asks are FINALLY back, SOOOOO...
Here we go!
PROS:
This seriously would've improved a lot for pretty much everyone. Shilo's general quality of life would improve a TON, and she probably wouldn't be stuck in the house, Mag would likely be able to have a general support system in finding a way out of GeneCo that didn't involve dying, and Nathan would be able to work through his baggage over Marni's death.
Shilo gets a functioning family :3
CONS:
Difficulty due to the workplace
Trust issues after Marni's death
HEAVILY differing opinions when it comes to the factor of murder
GENERAL CONSENSUS:
Pretty alright! There are some issues, but these can be worked out pretty quickly and with some communication. The main issue is the general mental states of both characters, but they’d hopefully be able to help each other improve.
HEADCANONS
They both support each other a lot in terms of the whole workplace thing. Both of them have rough days there, and both are there to help the other heal afterwards.
Mag convinces Nathan to get Shilo out of the house and eventually to stop poisoning her medicine, helping ease his fears of having her leave him.
Picnic dates. Picnic dates. Enough said. PICNIC DATES.
Nathan is a godly baker. Seriously, this man makes the best cookies. After Marni died, he didn’t want to let little traditions like making birthday cakes go, so he did his best to learn his late wife’s recipes and techniques. He keeps the tradition going with his new family.
Nathan is cheesy as hell and likes homemade cards. Good for him, Mag thinks it's fricking adorable.
He goes to all of her shows

Oc vs. Feanor. Oc she is Nerdanel sister and painter
with the group im playing i sometimes get very “stern dad” at the shenanigans because i like to play straight man (the joke here is that im gay) so as a personal challenge im only allowed to do that if i use rage.
i also decided that he probably eats weird stuff all the time.

HC: Mahtan in his youth looks VERY alike Maedhros in hair colour, any time-traveler would mistake them for each others because he did not grow his beard until arriving in Valinor XD
Sry, that it took me so long to respond, but I ended up wondering … why the beard? HC 1) Mathan is a great fan of Aule, who looks like a dwarf. He modelled them after himself and younger Mathan emulates his mentor. He never gets the full bard as the dwarfs do, but he’s proud of it. His wife thinks he’s insane, but she indulges him and his grandkids love it. HC 2) the beard and Mathan’s connection to Aule end up fueling Feanor’s hate / suspicion towards the Valar. Feanor believed in Aule / the Valar mostly because of Mathan (who was his teacher and sometimes a better father than Finwe). So the fall out - aka Melkor’s release, Melkor turning up at his doorstep and the banishment - equally hits Mathan and Feanor. They love each other to a great deal (Feanor is a wonderful son in law), but Mathan sides with the Valar at first and realizes his mistake too late. His family is nearly gone, his daughter fading and his grandchildren lost. HC 3) Beards are a sign of inner age and Mathan gets his AFTER the entire episode of the Darkening in Valinor. He keeps it, because he used to look like Maedhros and Ambarussa … and can’t stand it to look in the mirror anymore, seeing their faces reflected back at him. So he uses his beard to hide and swears he’ll only shave it off the day his grandchildren are returned to him. HC 4) People who don’t know the Feanorians keep mistaking Mathan for Feanor, because Maedhros looks so much like him people think he is the father of the insane brood. After a few awkward situations Mathan grows a beard. Because he stops at being mistaken for Maedhros (life of a Prince is HARD, thank you very much)
HC 5) Reborn people from Doriath and Sirion keep bothering Mathan, because they mistake him for Maedhros. And while Mathan is distraught at what happened, he’s not exactly surprised (he had the pleasure of having to babysit his grandkids). But reannouncing all connections with them is out (he still loves them, no matter how loud and horrible they can be) … hence why he grows the beard. HC 6) When Gimli comes to Valinor he shows Mathan how to take care of his beard properly, how to brush it, how to tie it in to beautiful braids / how to decorate it. Mathan comes up with a different design each day, shows them off and suddenly no one wonders anymore why Feanor turned out that way he did.
