Norsery Rhymes from A to Z Matrons Euthungae, the Protective Matrons of the Seubae

Happy Thorsday! - Here’s another 20 min sketch of a Norse (and Germanic, Celtic) mythological characters. This week it’s the Matrons Euthungae  / Matronae Euthungae / Matribus Suebis Euthungabus

Also called the Seubian Matrons, or Matres Suebae, and The Matrons of  Sidinae. Three guardian ancestral protective Matron (Mothers) and Goddesses, found mentioned in and around Euthungae, Collogne, and Deutz Germany. Likely from the Luthungi tribe of the Suebians.

Some feel that they are related to the Reuthungabus tribe. And the  Euthungabus is merely a dropping of the letter on inscriptions. As Euthungiis is another spelling of Luthungi.

Happy Thorsday! - Here’s another 20 min sketch of a Norse (and Germanic, Celtic) mythological characters. This week it’s the Matrons Ethrahena  / Matronae Ethrahenae. One or Three Guardian Matron (Mothers) and Goddesses, found mentioned in and around Wollersheim and Rodigen and Kuchenheim in Nideggen, near Bonn and Collogne Germany. Possibly of Eitrach

Called the Protective Matrons of the Fences and Borders. Particularly of their area. Their name could have been derived from the local town or population, but is more likely to be from the Old High Germanic word “Ettar” meaning ‘fence’ or ‘border’. 

They appear together with the Gesahenae, and may possibly be linked to the Veteranehae,/ Veterahenae.
