Didn’t Lindsay make himself seen, heard and known throughout the entirety of The Newsreader’s story? Just as you think he couldn’t be more unlikeable or detestable, he goes ahead and proves that he can. The deplorable nature of his character was brought to a massive crescendo in Season Three, and his sensational and surprising exit from News At Six is something we won’t be forgetting any time soon.

Having spent time in the space of The Newsreader’s office space with William McInnes, I wanted to assure viewers that William is nothing like Lindsay, thank goodness. He is an unmissable presence, sure, but in a way that’s bright and fun. You are delighted with his vocal warm-ups, and he has the tendency of breaking into song at any random moment.

Possibly the character he has played in recent years which feels most like William would be Dr Roy ‘Rosie’ Penrose from NCIS Sydney. I have loved watching him in action on this show. Dr Penrose is a forensic pathologist for the Australian Federal Police who runs autopsies on the dead victims throughout the show, assisting the NCIS with their investigations. He especially has a beautiful familial relationship with the sweet and smart forensic scientist Bluebird ‘Blue’ Gleeson (played by Mavournee Hazel), which is heartwarming to watch!

As The Newsreader has come to a close, I urge fans to continue to support William through NCIS Sydney, which has been renewed for a third season. It’s a wonderful light drama that both knows when to take the mickey and have fun, but is also serious and emotive where it counts. It is awesome seeing such a massive international television franchise embrace our Australian stories, locations and talent! ❤️🌟📺🇦🇺
