She’s back!!!
Listen, I’m all for a toxic character because none of these people are particularly good people. To me that was the major aspect of the original series. However, what irritates me about Jack is that he just does not seem to have redeemable qualities. You know if you’re going to be toxic there should at least be one person that you’re semi good to. Kind of like in the first season where Top was a dick through and through and he was even a dick to Mew. But at the end of the day, he did work to better himself. Ray worked to better himself for Sand and their relationship too. But with Jack, I’m finding it hard to get to a place where I believe he thinks anything about him needs to be changed.
And oddly enough it’s not even that I think he’s wrong for being upset. He and Tua are understandably upset with Arnold and Dean. So that’s not what infuriates me about him. What infuriates me about him is that he is so willing to in retrospect, manipulate and destroy someone’s mental health, by dragging them into his chaotic relationship with Dean.
Because he is under the assumption that Raffy is such a down bad loser for him, that it doesn’t matter that he doesn’t give a shit about him. He will take Raffy just because he will be loyal to him and be like a puppy he can train. As if to say, here all the things that Dean did wrong, if you don’t do that, and if you blindly love me, I’ll spare you a glance. You can be my little new Dean puppet. That is my issue with him.
Because even in the first season when Ray and Mew are doing their weird Situationship, I still felt bad for them and their actual significant other’s because I could understand where they were coming from. But I have yet to feel like Jack deserves any vengeance he is holding to Dean. Like yeah sure, be upset that he lied and that the whole situation is weird. I can even understand your history with him being why you’re so upset. But what I just can’t get with is using Raffy as a pawn in your relationship with Dean. When everyone knows you’re going to get back with him. You just want Dean to have a leash and when he doesn’t, it infuriates you. Which is why I cannot get behind Jack as a character.
Can gaster just get a lil pat on the head for being such a good scientist? Don’t smoosh him please
