note, this is not me hating on some readers, its just a rant. like or dislike what characters you want to, just don't make false claims and bully people. Their all fictional.
That being said......
Why do so many people babify Xue Yang? I mean they act like XY is like... 5 years younger then xxc and Song Lan when in fact he is only one year younger then them!
In the extra in the book, when Xue Yang and Jin Guangyao are running around, XY specifically gets pissed at SongLan and XXC treating him like a kid because of this!!!
While i do ADORE the untamed, i do have at least one scene off the top of my head that i don't care for. It's the scene of Meng Yao killing that Nie Soldier. In the book, it was a Jin that he killed, along with possibly several others, and specifically with a Wen sword. Something about NMJ getting pissed at him and it NOT being one of his own men appeals to the fact that NMJ is very much not a selfish person. None of his actions are out of selfish desire. Actually, you know what
Nie Mingjue hate! I get it if your just not a fan of his character, but the people who like, SUPER HATE him, always say stuff that makes me scratch my head. Examples include; He is a misogynist. I didn't understand where this idea came from, until i realized two things. The people saying this are pointing to him calling JGY a son of a prostitute, or are the people who hyper feminize Nie Huaisang. And then they conveniently forget NMJ was maybe the only person who spoke HIGHLY of Mian Mian after she tried to defend WWX. (and thank god he didn't invite her to Nie Clan! I love the idea that he acknowledge her strength in character and was more then willing to NOT ask her to join his clan. Having a male character let a female character prove herself without stepping in is kissing finger thing magnificent!!!)
Nie Mingjue is a mean/ entitled/or cruel for no reason. While i can get the entitled part, cause yes, he was raised in a society where he was treated better then other characters cause he was the heir of a prestigious clan, being "Mean" or Cruel for no reason isn't very true. He has tough love. Going back to where i said he wasn't selfish: NMJ wants his brother to learn saber, so he can defend himself, not just cause he wants to bully him. (The only time he out right seems to hate on NHS hobbies is during the days before he Qi Deviates aka his meridians have the equivalent of a brain tumor!!!) He treats JGY with toughness and expectations, cause he wants him to be a good person. The book states he starts treating JGY like he treats NHS- which says a LOT!!! (once again, the only reason he brings up JGY's birth before kicking him down the stairs is 1, Xianxia brain tumor analogy, and 2. JGY said he was better then every innocent person he ever killed. Sure JGY sees it as a survival tactic, but NMJ sees it as a heartless act of cruelty.)
random addition,: something i realized from the book that doesn't really get noticed, the only reason NMJ was at Nightless City massacre and the First Seige of the Burial Mounds, was cause some of his men were killed by Wen NIng during his and Wen Qing's trial. which implies he might not have gotten involved if that didn't happen.
Why do people dislike Lan Xichen? I know one part is what he says at Guanyin temple to WWX, (which if i am right is something of a translation error?) but everything else does not make sense to me. He defended JGY: ya, and LWJ defended WWX. Sure cause we read it from WWX's prospective we know he is 'innocent' but from LXC's prospective he wants to give JGY the benefit of the doubt. Yall forget he also stabbed JGY. Yes it was a trick, but he was ready to stab him anyway if he did actually try anything. People acting like their omnipotent reader position should dictate what LXC should know. EDit: People also forget, that he was trying to rebuild his home during and post Sunshot campaign, so his actions then could simply be... he figuratively was being stretch as thin as paper trying to run a clan, rebuild his home, keep the peace between NMJ and JGY, and stop LWJ from getting himself hurt emotionally.
Why do so many people forget how morally grey Yiling Laozu WWX is? Dude committed several war crimes, and did kill some innocent people. Yes, the people who joined in the fight with the clans to take down WWX during the nIghtless city massacre- some of them really thought they were doing justice and had no ill intentions. (No, you cannot condone WWX for his crimes against innocent people just cause you hate JGS just as much as i do and he was the one who manipulated them. blame the government, not the governed)
getting back on feminizing NHS; some western readers of MDZS really don't look into stuff about Ancient Chinese Culture do they? In the case of LIng Wen from TGCF and NHS of MDZS both characters are treated very effeminately cause of them being more scholarly, or artistic.... when both those were considered men's things in ancient china.
Why do some fans hate facial hair. They don't care when it's Lan Qiren, but the moment someone even mentions the untamed or just any characters having body hair, this specific fans act like its a crime. (Buddy, men start growing body hair like that at puberty! Let men have their body hair!! scratch that! Let people have body hair!!!! give Wen Qing hairy arms or legs or something!!!!)
