I haven’t posted anything on here about what has been going on medically; however, I am getting super frustrated. It all began around March 2022. I thought it was allergies; I felt congested, and my ears were full of pressure. I thought it could have also been from driving over bridges to get to work and such. Basically, it feels like there is pressure stuck in my ear and they are constantly popping and when I rapidly change elevation, it feels like someone is piercing my ear.
I went to the walk-in clinic at the beginning of June as the pain was not going away and it was starting to impact my everyday life. My doctor prescribed me prednisone and an anti-biotic (amoxicillin). I was not informed that I could potentially get a yeast infection from the anti-biotic. Therefore, I spent 3x days with a yeast infection without knowing.
I went back to the walk-in clinic and informed the other doctor that was there. When I informed him that I believe I got a yeast infection from my anti-biotic, he looked at me like I was crazy. He told me to stop the anti-biotic and get this new one (however, he did not want me to start it until 5x days after the previous anti-biotic) and to get this solution to soak my vaginal area.
I went back to the walk-in clinic two days later in some of the worst pain in my life. I saw a third different doctor who was very familiar with yeast infections and was able to get me the medication needed. I was so upset and in pain from the yeast infection that I didn’t bring up the fact that my ears were not any better than they were before.
I was able to get the medication and thankfully the yeast infection went away. My ear pain was bad; however, I was so nervous to go back because I didn’t want another yeast infection and the third doctor tried to make a joke asking me to not come in for a while since I was in 3x in about 2x weeks.
I finally went back last week (July) and was given another round of prednisone (which turns me into a HUGE bitch). Three days in, my ears were actually getting worse. So, I went back to the walk-in today. He is putting me on another anti-biotic and a pill for yeast infections (just in case). He told me earlier this week we could put a referral to an ENT and now he wants to wait until after this round of anti-biotics.
I am just annoyed because my ears are not getting any better and it seems like my doctor is not listening to me. Anywho, there’s my little update.
