#medication problems

y’all ever feel in love or have some sort of longing feeling for something that doesn’t exist? and when i say this i don’t mean a fictional character.

idk if it’s a medication thing or what, but it’s been going on for a while now. it’s like some sort of queer longing but feels almost like some soulmate or siren is calling me.

if anyone else can relate or if this is a medical problem please let me know.

You know what really pisses me off about the medication industry???

The 7 bottles with caps on are all empty now

The bottle with the cap off is one i emptied the 7 into plus what was already in the new bottle

A set of 3 bottles sells for almost $17

1 bottle has 14 pills in it

After all the faff, the Dr has finally been able to issue a prescription for the medication my POTs specialist requested back in April. Rejoice!

Oh, except my pharmacy doesn't stock it any more. It's one of the increasing number of drugs that their suppliers aren't renewing the contracts on because of the uncertainty over Brexit. Their best suggestion is to try a bigger chain, like Boots, who might still be able to get hold of it.

Fuck Brexit, seriously. And fuck that toadying wanker who's somehow managed to cheat his way into power.

I thought perhaps...I was maybe dying-ish?

So, upon the request of my insurance, my beta-blocker dose was changed from one 50 mg tab 2/day to one half of a 100 mg tab 2/day, so they could save money by paying for less pills and have me cut them in half. Okay, I can deal with it...

But--no one informed me of the change. I have been taking this Rx for at least 9 years...and the pills looked almost the same (slightly larger in size, same color, same generic brand)...so I did not notice the change.

I took double the dose of my beta-blocker for 2 weeks. I was extremely lethargic, way dizzier than usual, sleeping 14 hours at a time...by the time I realized the mistake, I was convinced my health was taking a serious turn for the worse.

I only found the mistake when I ran out of beta-blockers early--because I had been taking them at twice the rate I should have!

My doctor's office said the pharmacy should have informed me. My pharmacy said the doctor's office should have informed me.

I was LIVID, but too ill to even make angry phone calls about it. I'm okay-ish again, but I am still pretty irritated about it. My doctor did tell me she was going to have a meeting with the staff about the incident so hopefully nothing like that happens again.

P.s. by the C4 tastes horrible I mean it tastes worse than Thiamine which didn't know aas even possible lol

So yeah congrats, whoever made IPCA-escitalopram, on concocting the world most unbelievably revolting unswallowable pill in the world lol

I know I'm raving on about it but it's just a huge blow for me that the previous brand's pill I loved isn't funded anymore, cos it was like my most easily swallowable and small pill I get aside from the capsule ones.

And now I am condemned for the foreseeable future to have to chew that mess every single morning on top of the two Thiamine I had only just gotten desensitized to the taste of 😭

Please lemme know if you have struggled with these things like meds that are difficult to take and don't just say I'm lucky meds are even funded here bc i know that and that the US healthcare system is atrocious but I still feel like these are important issues when you consider that we (if we're lucky enough in the first place to have proper access to our meds) are having to take these meds every day for the rest of our lives. We shouldn't have to just "take what we get" when we deserve more (and allow me to get preemptively defensive here 😅: saying "other people have it worse" in the face of someone's trauma is ALWAYS a bad take so if you're considering making it all about the US problems to knock me while I'm down and diminish my struggles, just don't. cos the rest of the world is allowed to exist on the WORLD Wide Web and we have our own problems thank u 😊 but other than that please share your experiences, without belittling mine)
