Today, we’re proud to publish our very first transcript of a Mass Effect mission!

Finished the transcript for Nexus Reunion so that makes two transcripts ready to be edited. I still need to transcribe most of the Nexus quests, tasks and dialogues though.

Sometimes I feel it's a bit... well, not very organized. Which bothers me. But I can't exactly have separate files for every quest, that's just not possible. With the transcript there is a flow. And from the moment you get the quest to the moment the quest is done, there might be a lot of missions in-between. Best I can do right now is keep doing it like this but list all the quests and tasks that can be found in the additional scenes.  

I also struggle with the additional scenes because so many scenes seem so important and I want to keep them in the main transcript but I can't.  I'll have to find a way to make the whole thing readable for completionists who don't want to click on multiple links when reading the transcripts.

We published our first transcript today and were contacted a few hours later by @kuoleman. She sent us finished and complete transcripts of Mass Effect 1 and Mass Effect 2 and transcripts in progress of Mass Effect 3. This was entirely unexpected and left us a bit speechless. She did it without expecting anything in return. Mass Effect is her favorite universe, she is fascinated with the lore, and she says she hopes her notes will help us somehow. We think it will make publishing Mass Effect transcripts a hundred times easier, and we are beyond happy that she contacted us! @kuoleman, thank you for sharing your hard work with us. Thank you for trusting us and letting us edit the transcripts for publication. You'll be fully credited when the time comes, but for now we want everyone to know you have given us a great gift today!

An other question, regarding the transcripts if you don't mind. Do you have any tips or sources as help to keep/get them in such a neat form as yours? Plus I love the idea of a full transcript for all MEs (there exists quite a few of Andromeda but not enough of the original triology) as creator for Edits or FF or even art I find it incredible helpful if I dont have to look up videos for certain scenes but instead can read it up. Thus Thank You for all the work with it already :)!

Where are the Andromeda transcripts that already exist? oOThe full ones of missions? Do you have a link? I only know ones for the Nomad and Tempest banter but not full missions. 

And regarding your question, I’m not sure what you mean. Do you mean the format we use, like pdf/html? Or do you mean how we do transcripts? I’ll try to answer all of these. 

The way I do it is simply use my own vids to transcribe additional scenes. I work with my software PageFour for transcribing because it's easy to put the window next to the vid. I put it up on Google Drive file as I go. I already format what I can. If I’m using the transcript done by others, I copy/paste from their Drive file, erase all formating and edit as I go so it works with our template. 

I have a separate Drive file called "Help for Transcript" and that's where I put things I need to copy/paste often like:

RYDER - dialogues options: EMOTIONAL -LOGICAL -CASUAL -PROFESSIONAL -

SHEPARD - Investigate dialogues options: --

All descriptions are like this: [Description.]

Everything in the transcript is centered. I use the same template for the table of contents, because it means I can just copy/paste "Scene I", change it to "Scene II" and update the table and voilà! It's added in the table with the page. 

Once the transcript is done and the corrections are made in the Drive file, I copy/paste it on a Word file. I have to save it first without links in a pdf/html format. If there are additional scenes, that means adding a link so I have to upload it on MEL's server, go back to the word file and add all the links I need.

IDK, I'm not sure if this is truly a good way to do all this but it seems to work so far.

Are you interested in having the transcripts in epub format? I should also have the full transcript including the additional scenes in one file instead of separate like we've been doing so far.

Are there ways for any of us to help with the transcripts?

Yeah. Here’s the FAQ. 

Basically with ME1, ME2 and ME3 I have most of the transcripts with the different variations regarding Paragon/Renegade, but I don't have the variations for FShep/MShep. And those transcripts aren’t edited yet and if edited, I’ll keep using the Paragon lines first. The editing means including additional scenes, descriptions of movements and other relevant information. It also means giving all the dialogue options and/or investigate ones Shepard has.

For MEA, we'll publish the transcript for Habitat 7 once I'm done editing it but as far as transcribing goes, we only have a bit of the Nexus mission. We don't have transcripts for the rest of the game. We also only have BroRyder as the protag.

I could use help with those variations. Basically you can take the transcript we've already published of the mission on Eden Prime and go through it to make the FShep or Renegade version. You can also take our Prologue:Hyperion for MEA and do the same thing with a Sara Ryder and/or a more emotional Ryder (since I tend to pick logical/professional lines). You can also do specific transcribing for MEA. Like transcribe a loyalty mission or another mission you want. The most important thing for me is to know who is working on what so no work is done twice, that’s why anyone who wants to work on these should contact me so I can add them on Discord!
