BEHOLD: Present Mic "AWOO" frame-by-frame.
the new IZ movie really captured the feeling you get while meeting certain jojo characters
"early access" release: this is my mega-compilation of Perryshmirtz moments, including P&F, MML, and a segment at the end that puts a bunch of cast & crew comments at conventions & on social media, together.
it is, however, over an hour long, so I'm working on a shorter version. editing is hard,(how do you decide the entry level of a statement as vague as "gay moment?" no seriously if you wanna play a yes-no game for those HMU) so it might be a while. this is the Bonus edition!
Top 10 Smash!! Present Mics
#10: Goatee Mic. While Mic shows up with a goatee a handful of times, this one is the largest drawing of it. It’s a cautionary tale of just how cursed that can be. He looks like he’s friends with Larry Butz.
#9: Sportacus Mic. This is one of a few shōjo-style panels Mic features in (and we are all glad for that?). The unique use of longer and more relaxed eyebrows lends this drawing an intensely threatening aura.
#8: Made-up Mic. Thematically similar to #9, Mic teams up with his good friend, Midnight in this panel. He appears to have even gone to all the effort of wearing lipstick and mascara(?) and let’s just not think about the context, yup. It’s fine. Girl’s night or something.
#7: Jail Mic. In this panel Aizawa has trapped Mic and Nedzu in a makeshift jail cell for their various crimes. While Nedzu appears to be trembling, Mic remains somewhat more stoic. It’s apparent that he’s been trapped for some time already, evidenced by the fact he’s beginning to grow a goatee again.
#6: Praise the Mic. He is risen.
#5: Emo Mic. A brave illustrative choice, showing perhaps the only appearance of Mic with purposefully unstyled hair.
#4: Sleepy Mic. Here, Mic has gotten drunk with the other teachers and some pro heroes. Can you imagine an outfit less comfortable to sleep in than Mic’s??
#3: Mic in Eraser’s Body. While it looks like he’s possibly using Erasure, the narrative made it clear that when switching bodies, each character keeps their usual quirk and eyes(for some reason). So, Mic actually went to the trouble of gelling Aizawa’s hair up. Also his teeth are pointy, giving him a real washed-up cat-man sort of look. Nya.
#2: Kotatsu Mic. This fulfills my innate desire to see Mic as the crying-laughing emoji.
#1: Curry-flavoured Mic. Said to possibly be the second most cursed event in Smash!!, this panel haunts many readers. Technically speaking, you won’t get a spicier Mic pic than this. (Though it’s worth mentioning that the curry is said to taste especially salty.)
My juiciest AMV yet. Thanks @diamondbrickz for the amazing attention to detail on your mashup!
Top 10 Vigilantes Present Mics
#10: Bucktooth Mic. Young Mic eats a hot dog. That’s it
#9: Crowd Control Mic. The angle of this drawing gives him a unique expression of anguish.
#8: Muppet Mic. I think he hurt his wrist, because it’s merely a noodle now.
#7: Shrug Mic. A special shrug for when you’re just not that into him.
#6: Erased-Voice Mic. As well as this unique shocked expression, this panel has so many Present Mic Lore implications! A truly enriching manga panel.
#5: Trepanning Mic. The use of his speech bubble’s tail to represent the pain caused by his yelling is an especially fun use of panel layout. I have to respect that.
#4: Goggle Mic. If you ever wondered why Mic chose sunglasses for his hero costume/signature look, this panel makes it immediately obvious. (It also took me back to when I showed my friend a picture of Mic, and they immediately clocked him as a sexual predator. But I’ll post more on that another time.)
#3: Flying Mic. He levitates across for several panels like this. Not sure how! Good going, Mic! (Maybe, since they’re paneled together, he was launched by Aizawa!)
#2: Upside Down Mic. He probably posed like this to tease Aizawa about some of his usual moves? Maybe. Or for fun. Probably for fun.
#1: Spin-to-Win Mic. Three Mics, an intricate office chair maneuver, and the much gentler “yeah?” with a toned-down smile to match. This man is pulling out all the stops trying to get that dinner date. He may not have succeeded in-universe, but he definitely succeeded on this list.
