Found this meme on knowyourmeme and I just gotta point out: It's wrong.

Like, I get it. Rico is insane and can be ignorant about basic stuff, so obviously he gets put in the "doesn't know what sex is" column, while Skipper does his best to come across as a dashing action hero, of course he must know what sex is

Except. Skipper thought the 4 of them could establish a new population of penguins on their own and was surprised by Private's objection of "Don't you need girls for that?"

Meanwhile Rico is the one most often shown reacting to stuff in ways that are coded as sexual (y'know, wolf-whistles, going "rawr", suggestive eyebrows etc)

Conclusion: Skipper and Rico ought to be switched. Rico 100% knows what sex is. Skipper likely does not.

So, I looked up what skibidi toilet is and uh ... yeah, it looks incomprehensible on the surface

But it starts out with a brand of messed-up-in-the-head humour that's reminiscent of Salad Fingers and the way it escalates from there all makes sense, on a thematic level

But it's exactly the right level of "makes sense if you look at it from the right angle, but incomprehensible and repulsive to outsiders" that even at first glance I would *expect* appreciation of it to become an ingroup signal, a token of selection in itself, like how any successful meme tends to spread

we must analyze this statement on the meta textual level because on its own there is little to be garnered from the nonsensical allusion to popular children’s programming Porifera Robert Rectangular Trousers. Helpfully for our meta research this user has sent in their ask publicly (in modern parlance “off anon”). By perusing this user’s blog we may observe many phenomena common to meme culture which emerge, of particular note is the twisting of a pre-established meme (here intended to mean a piece of media that has been popularily integrated into a specific culture or subculture) into a “evil” version, evil seemingly meaning only that the popularized version of the meme is inverted. Of secondary note is the proliferation of the phrase “Spongebob, open the door, my balls are stuck” accompanied by this image.

While it remains unclear, without further research, if the user in question is the originator of this meme they are certainly the originator of the phrase above, an inversion of the widespread memetic item. Thusly the “joke” is in the combination of both the “evil” meme and “balls are stuck” meme. As such the ideal response to this ask is some variation on “Squidward if he was sick and twisted” or simply “Evil Squidward”.

I think the reason that a tweet as seemingly nonsensical as:

achieved its meme/copypasta status and spread the way that it did is, at least partially, because at its core, it's an exciting underdog story.

The white boy is our protagonist here, he's 'quirked up', which means that there's something fucking wrong with him, he's different, not like the other boys, which makes him compelling and relatable.

Another thing about him is that he's only got a little bit of swag, not a lot, just enough to get by, perhaps? Not content with the reality he finds humself in, he decides to do the unthinkable, to do something as transgressive and unexpected as busting it down. And he even does it sexual style, adding another level of transgression to the mix.

But what now? There's no going back, he's really in it now... Is he ready to face what lies ahead? is he the one to walk this path? The chosen one? The one that the ancient prophecy describes as 'Goated with 'The Sauce''? He is about to find out.

You see how this reads like a synopsis to like every anime or cartoon ever? The words by themselves make no sense, but a certain vibe is there and that's what matters.

Internet Culture

I love internet culture. I love it so much

Now, what does that mean? When I say Internet Culture I'm referring to the entire language, slang, memes, references, and styles that are commonly used when talking on the internet that are different from talking irl.

Examples

1. We can communicate using memes without text because many memes are used so often you can already assume what the text is

(see: x or even the meme "Loss" x)

2. The grammatical syntax on the internet. It's much different than writing a letter, doing a school assignment, or writing a note. People have adapted language for the internet to help convey tone if you see someone using a. lot. of. periods. that means they're emphasizing the point, Even more than that, there are different ways you talk on the internet depending on the platform: Twitter uses tone indicators, texts sees more abbreviations, tumblr uses formatting (spacing, italics, cursive, etc.)

3. Dont even get me started on vines. God, I love vines, its one the most fascinating things to examine its impact

4. Fuck, dude, I'm running out of examples but i know there is so much more to talk about, i could go on for forever

5. ONLINE FRIENDS! Online friends are wild!!! Just as a concept! You tell me you raised a generation that was taught to fear the internet and they went out and made friends WHILE STILL trying to include some form of identity protection?

6. ONLINE NAMES!!!!! The fact that people have the weirdest fuckig screen names but that is so incredibly normal on the internet that you will meet people that go by names like Tree, Toy, Settings, Fairy, Cass, Lynn, Lyrica, Int, Kiwi, Belit, Poke, Cap, Shumpy, or even fuckin' "dickslayer99" (all real names I have come across) and people don't even bat an eye! And even the ones I included that sound like irl names are literally nowhere close to their irl names, they just chose a name that sounded normal!

I stand by the fact that the best ice breaker on the internet is "How'd you get your name?" because almost everyone has a story

(which is ironic for me to say because i have literally no recollection of where my name comes from but i can somehow tell you how i came up with every single password I've ever used)

Ok I could go on for hours and I'll probably end up making several other posts about everything I love about the internet and growing up on the internet but feel free to add on or tell me stories about any of these things! I just. i really really love internet culture :D

I believe that every fandom has an already existing meme that they claimed for themselves, which is either changed from the original meme, or not changed at all.

(Spoilers for some stuff I guess)

For example:

Madness Combat has that picture of a man holding a sign. Obviously they claimed that picture as their own because of Tricky, but they didn’t fully embraced it as their own and I doubt that it was a meme beforehand, so I don’t think it counts considering that I’ve never seen that image before Madness Combat blew up this year.

MadCom and Friday Night Funkin’ has the Tiky meme that originated from the Amogus meme.

And of course we can’t forget about the sweet and sour sauce meme which originated from Breaking Bad.

Unrelated to FNF and MC, Omori has the “ayo the pizza here” meme. It’s originally independent from Omori (never meant for Omori actually), but has since being claimed as their own for spoilery reasons.

There are fandoms that haven’t claimed memes as their own yet from my knowledge, like most Nintendo franchises. But who knows? Maybe they will claim a meme as their own someday...
