This is my first attempt to mend a piece of knitting that got ripped (swipe for "before" picture). I used a contrasting yarn on purpose, so that the patch would be visible - reminiscent of Kintsugi (金継ぎ, "golden joinery"), a japanese technique of repairing (ceramic) pieces in a way that the break and repair is not hidden, but treated as part of the history of the piece. . Finally found the time to attempt to darn the Christmas party dress I made last year and OH BOY darning is exactly as difficult and time consuming as I thought it was lol. This smallish hole took me about an hour to fix. Luckily the dress fabric pattern makes this fix pretty discreet. It is easier to mend denim on my machine but today is Sunday, slow time. So I chose a movie and hand mend hubby's work jeans. Not pretty but sturdy enough.
