If I keep the scene with Lawrence in heat and Benitez (who is intersex by this world's standards here) coming to see him, possibly a way he can reveal things about himself here is to do some projective empathy. ...Maybe some of Lawrence's feelings back at him?

(Need to figure out how stuff works with Vincent's backstory here. Do the mental powers come in at puberty? If earlier, what was going on with that?)
